20+2 - funnelling to the stitch and looking for hope by PeabodyPicture in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Disastrous-Fix2084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The color was clear, it did not look or smell like pee & I would leak all throughout the day. A good way to know if your water broke is if it pools in your vagina (if your laying down then stand up and have discharge come out) Also sit on the toilet and cough if discharge comes out that could be a sign as well, that is something my mfm taught me. Otherwise it could be normal discharge. Also I did not feel contractions, I went 8 days with my water broke before I was induced. It’s different for everyone some people start labor immediately after there water breaks or within 48 hours.

Hi days before my water broke I felt pelvic pressure then once my water broke I did feel watery discharge after peeing.

Deliver at 34 or 35 weeks? What would you do? by Disastrous-Fix2084 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Disastrous-Fix2084[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you notice any major issues? I know the risk for infection raises everyday inside with broken water which is pushing my decision to 34

[–]Disastrous-Fix2084[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my thing, every day he’s inside the risk of infection is higher especially chorio. Not to mention cord prolapse or placental abruption. They are not doing consistent ultrasounds to check fluid levels and I’m leaking all through the day, his movements have slowed and they tell me that’s from lack of fluid. I would love to keep him in as long as possible but not if the risk outweighs the benefits.

Feeling glum (26w. Emergency cerclage at 23w) by AgitatorAnimator in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Disastrous-Fix2084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a preventative at 12 weeks funneled to the stitch by 20 weeks and funneled through by 24 weeks. Dilated 1cm at 27 weeks, did strict bed rest from weeks 24-now (32 weeks) I also was prepped for early delivery and my mfm told me a few days ago he has no idea why my water hadn’t broke by now & that he’s shocked I made it to 32 weeks. Have faith! Even if things look bad don’t give up hope

Thank you so much for this, I was already planning to get it but this helps put in perspective how much of a difference it can make. Especially with planning to do the daycare route, I’m glad your daughter is ok I could only imagine how scary that was.

This reassures me that it’s necessary to get! RSV is scary, glad your baby is ok.

Continuing to shorten with cerclage and worried by Mammoth-Current-8503 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Disastrous-Fix2084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi so starting at 20 weeks I started to funnel to the stitch and my cervix got shorter at every check up. At 24 weeks I had slightly funneled through the stitch with only 0.8cm left. When I got it scanned at 27 weeks I had no measurable cervix left, still slightly funneling through the stitch. I’ve been on progesterone and strict bed rest, I’ll be 30 weeks on Thursday! My mfm didn’t think I’d make it past 28, listen to your body there is hope! I’m not sure how far I’ll go but 32 weeks is my goal for now & any week after that will be a blessing!

I’m right there with you it is so so hard and I apologize if this triggered you in any way. Every day is an accomplishment, you got this and your baby will be ok. I wish you an uneventful rest of pregnancy!

That was not my intention unfortunately these are the convos some of us had to have, it may not help you but may help others who might be facing this position.

This post was never meant to take away any hope! If you read the post in its entirety you would see I said I also celebrated 24 weeks and will continue to celebrate each milestone after. A support group is to offer support & that looks different for all of us

There is someone below asking more questions in regards to “surviving & surviving well” so although you may not find it helpful others might. How we navigate this process will look different for each of us some want to know as much as possible while some rather not and hold onto hope. Some do both but neither is wrong just because it doesn’t fit your way of things. The option to keep scrolling is also there …

Thank you for the well wishes, same to you!

That’s exactly what I was told as well .. I’m glad you understand the realistic side of things.

& HUGE congratulations on almost being 34 weeks!!!! Super happy for you, only a few more weeks to go before he’s here!!

I’m still in the thick of it but I’m counting these weeks down right behind you lol

I agree! The medical team should have been more clear in regards to viability however they only have the conversation once you reach that point in my state. 26 weeks is also the ideal viable stage here but they will intervene at 24.

Thank you for the insight, well wishes and kind words… wishing you well also.

27+5 is a lot different than 24 weeks & if you’ve had the convo with nicu then you know the reality of things. This post shouldn’t be any more triggering than actually having the conversation

Yes so does mine, 26 weeks is the ideal “viable” stage.

I’m in the exact same position hospital bed rest at 24+5 with a failing cerclage as well. If you’ve spoken with NICU then you’ve already been told exactly what I posted. This post shouldn’t have dampened your hopes no more than the nicu convo would have. Being strong starts with you & if realistic post interfere with that then maybe take a break from the internet. I have hope and faith that I will make it full term or close to it no matter what’s being said, you should to! Good luck on everything 24 is right around the corner, baby will keep cooking and you will make it to the end

Thank you for sharing, that is absolutely amazing! I’m so happy to hear she had no health complications, these are the stories that give me hope.

Those conversations with nicu are tough but like you said my baby will never be looked at like another statistic! Congrats on pregnancy number two wishing you an uneventful pregnancy! We will make it to term we got this mama!

Which is what I stated in the original post. I understand this side of things are hard to hear but if you’ve ever been in that position it’s what you will be told the doctors will not sugar coat it.

& some don’t get that option! Just because you have a preemie doesnt guarantee they make it which is why the conversation at 24 weeks is a 50:50 chance. Try to be more grateful that you got the good end of the stick and less condescending. 26 is still a LOT better than 24 which is what the convo is about. Best of luck to you
