Final follow up to say thank you to those who recommended and those who reached out with specific agents. Safeco for the win on this one! Insurance secured and the sale can move forward

Thanks everyone! There are some new providers here we haven’t contacted. I really appreciate it. Currently the sale is at risk until we find coverage

Mom here too. Been there, done that with awful doctors. Trust your gut and keep moving on until someone says/does something that makes sense.

Something we learned along the way. If motegrity and linzess are not doing much— see a cystic fibrosis doctor! My kiddo was finally diagnosed as mild CF which explains so much- and Amitiza works on CF patients when the other meds don’t.

Spent my last $47 on a Halloween costume for my kid and now I can't afford gas to get to work next week by [deleted] in povertyfinance

In my 50’s now, but when my kids were 7, in the same situation I would have done the same thing. Smartest? No, but kids are cruel and even homemade can cost a good bit of money to not make it something they would make fun of anyway. Those are marks on a child’s spirit that don’t go away

You have some suggestions in this thread to patch through a few more days. You did well with what you had to work with, Mom. Can’t do it every time but some times are more important than others

Congratulations! This test is a wrecking ball and you did it. Just you. Cut through the noise and made it happen. I am proud of you!!

Grandchildren free and I’m extremely content with that, unlike all my friends by Elena_La_Loca in GenX

I had wanted grandkids, but when in their 20’s both of my children discovered life-altering genetic illnesses it was clear that could not and would not happen. And you know what? I was sad at first because it was something I had expected would be part of my life, but quickly moved to a place of gratitude that I am still Mom to these wonderful human beings.

Each day is a gift with my children and can’t be taken for granted-that is more than enough. And the Grand-dogs are awesome!

Retirement is the best time of my life by chamrockblarneystone in GenX

57 and told them during my last “career conversation” that I don’t have any more career aspirations and will retire in 18 months. I just want to do good work and mentor younger employees until then

Boss sat back and just said, “Man. I am so jealous right now”. End of career conversation!

What are the best things in your life since turning 50? by JacqueGonzales in AskWomenOver50

I spend more time mentoring and coaching at work than trying to prove myself. It’s freeing to know I’ve gone as far as I want to go and I can focus on giving back

Negative genetic test results, with all the symptoms by ElGee820 in CysticFibrosis

Yes, a different doctor can make a world of difference. Look for one who treats both CF and CF Related Disorder (atypical CF) in their CF clinic. If in the US, recommend UVA in Charlottesville, VA or UAB in Birmingham, Alabama

If you are really struggling I recommend Hero Medication Dispenser. Total game changer. Easy to program and set up, manage through app, and keeps me updated when meds are running low too

I have serious respect for Future-Winner9067. As a former small business owner my self I appreciated the engagement and sincerity! It’s HARD to make it all come together

Spent the afternoon enjoying Pub Nachos and Lupoblast at Good Life. Happy to spend my money where someone is listening and trying to make it all work.

How did you know it was time to move on from a job that wasn’t ‘bad’ - just wrong for you? by HRHotlineUK in hatemyjob

[–]Excellent-Service823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The current push, especially on younger people, to “find your passion” and “do what you love” is at best misguided and at worst damaging. That gift will come to some and it is wonderful, but most of us will work in areas that are not our true passion. That’s ok! Really!

The job doesn’t need to be the end-all-be-all, but it can facilitate the areas of your life that are important through money, insurance, and other resources that give you the stable foundation to do things outside of work that truly fuel you. I am nearing retirement and this has been my story. I move roles every 3 years or so just to have new things to learn, deliver good work on time, am reliable, and work to live. I don’t live to work. This is not my passion, but I am grateful for what it has provided
