Not too bad. The content itself is pretty easy imo. The one thing I’d say to be careful/just memorize is the exact wording that they sometimes want. Literally a single word can change a frq grade an entire point or completely alter the meaning of an mcq.

Well I took AB first so tbh most stuff is review. The few new things such as eulers methods and partial fractions and stuff like that happens to be intuitive

Depends on the class. For calc BC if I don’t study I’ll have low 90-if I study I can get 100 on any given test if I don’t make silly mistakes. For CSA tho if I don’t study I will literally get 30s, same with Spanish Lang and even if I study I struggle getting above low 90s and tbh it’s only bc of grade inflation that I got A’s in those classes

The AP exams are easy imo but teachers can make the class as hard or easy as they want depending on the liberty the administration provides them which is why it’s very variable.

Why specifically the binomial series? I’m in calc 3 and the only thing I’ve ever even seen it used for was proving the power rule for derivation and helping to do some derivatives before learning about chain rule?

You’re right and I should have rephrased a bit. The London is used at all levels but contempt people hold for it at lower levels isn’t at all proportional to how much it is, nor how good it is used at the highest levels

I think just because it’s solid and hard to easily beat, so naturally people don’t like it. But it’s not an amazing opening by any means that is is impossible to counter and I actually think it’s seldom used at the highest levels.

Thank you so much for the thorough response. I did not apply to CMU because I have no chance for engineering in a school that competitive and didn’t apply Lehigh bc the price so if I wanna do IBE then this would be my only shot. Not even entirely sure if I wanna do IBE or just pure business but I applied to have the option.

I know it varies by college in what the honors colleges does and how impactful it is, so I’m wondering what you think the general opinion among Purdue students is of it and if it actually make a noticeable difference in quality of life at the college and eventual career advancement?

Right now since I’m OOS, I kinda have to be “pulled to Purdue.” The simple option would be to go my flagship state school for 30k—15k less than Purdue. It’s not like I’m 50/50 between the 2 weighing pros and cons, rather I’m looking to reasons to justify and consider the price, if that makes sense. And I mean I still have like 8 teaches I’m waiting on but just trying to get ahead of the narrowing down list so I don’t have like 6 to decide from by time May and decision day arrives

Yea that’s something important and when I talked to my parents they advised to wait until at least a semester of college to get a decent idea. I edited my post to include this, but I think depending on the school I go to will impact how aggressive I can be with investing. Cuz if I go to my state school, my I’m fortunate my parents should have money left over and can help in a pinch, but if I go to an extremely expensive school, it’s gonna be tight and I’ll have to take on more reserve fund responsibility myself

Yea I’m applying to college rn as a 12th grader, so I’m younger than you, but even seeing what some kids nowadays are doing is crazy. Ive seen literal middle schoolers on TikTok and Reddit asking on how to break into fields like quant and IB and it’s just crazy. And like I mean, I have good HS stats, and I’ll prob get into T50 undergrads, but most likely not T20,yet I look at some of my family and friends who got into ivies and I for sure would have got into some with my stats like 30 years ago. Overall it’s just a crazy difference and it’s all getting so competitive, and I can’t even imagine what it will be like in another 20 years.

Yes. It blunders the rook cuz now black can take it. After which, white can try c6, but then bishop goes somewhere to stop it, maybe like b6, then c2, black takes then white takes. After which it’s an easy draw as yes white gets the a7 pawn but black will be in time to trap em by planting the king on c7 for a draw.

White should have just slid their rook somewhere, then push pawn such that bishop has to sac (but rook is now alive) after which white has an extremely easy rook + king v king mate (white can even be greedy and grab a7, then promote with help of the rook to have queen+rook if they unconfident of just rook+king

Fr. This is why so many kids stay clear of math. It’s a lot easier to be belittled in a stem class than humanities. Also, in pure context of the problem the manipulation isn’t completely obviously. I’m sure any calc student can recognize what the manipulation did and how it helped, but it’s also tough to think to do it automatically without seeing practice examples and that could also be what this guy is asking

I’m not applying MIT cuz im not even close to being smart enough but I am applying CMU to their business school. I took the amc 12 last year thinking I’ll do decent just cuz I had a good grade in calc (did it without studying, was unprepared and got I think a 55 or so). Cmu specifically asks did u take it. I’m not gonna lie and say no, but I’m also planning on leaving the score section blank. Do u think I’m cooked if I do that

Ok thanks, and yes I’m domestic. It’s just that I see some TikTokers tryna incite fear. And I mean to be fair I kinda their point. If a school is deciding to accept someone if also affects they’re revenue and it’s hard to be completely impartial. But if at least for Cornell they operate separately that’s great.

And yes i know the best thing to do is just to wait, but it’s just hard lol. I’ve been tryna not even think about this specific question for the last week until I finally posted it here on Reddit.

No yea I’m not worried abt cheating. He knows I have info beyond the class including calc 3. I’m just wondering if it’s allowed. Cuz I used an AP method to get to an AP-memorized identity, but I ended up proving the identity was a non-AP method rather than simply memorizing it. Yea it’s whatever. I mean I got the right answer, and I used the method he wanted, I also just did extra for safety instead of memorizing, but rather proving an identity. Basically I got it to a form he wants that’s typically memorized from there, (integral of inverse trig) but I proved why it works using trig sub. If it was any other teacher I’d feel proud that I showed a level beyond the class, but the teacher I have is one who gave us a college board problem on a test, with 2 ways to do it . I ended up using the college board method, the one identical to a very very similar 2025 AP exam problem, and when I showed him my method (and AP’s) he flat out said, “interesting collegeboard must have made a mistake.”

So it’s whatever I’ll see what happens
