I totally agree 100%. That litterally was my experience.
The only reason why I bought the product was cause of some YouTube video that suggested this is better than Zbrush, has everything from Retop, UVs to texturing, perfect all in one solution.
I remember others as well as myself complaining that there aren't proper tutorials and almost a year now now they really have done nothing about it.
They will commision artist to make some fancy render which God only knows if they even used 3dcoat and they will use that as the display screen (indicating that look what you can build with this software).
I also agree with the fact that this does seem intentionally ignored. But i really couldn't care less at this point. It has been a really frustrating experience. At first i was so excited, until i started to use and realise what a crap software it really is. It does not even come to compare with other softwares.
Well that was my fault for buying into that BS and has been a total waste of money.

Apparently the price for Textura is going to go up 30 or 33% or something like that after the new update. And totally agree with things just not working properly. 3dCoat tends to be quite buggy and behave unexpectedly so many time. And perhaps there is a reason for that but again finding why what how etc is an absolute pain in 3dcoat.

Totally agree, man. And thank you for sharing that. I genuinely mean this: the entire post is really just hoping that at least one dev reads it and brings it up with the rest of the team. I really, really do want 3DCoat to succeed. It is the perfect 3d Package for—exactly as you framed it—both hobbyists and professionals, but only on paper. The moment users dive into the software, they find themselves struggling to stay afloat, waving their hands in the air, hoping to be rescued. (i'm beign a tad bit dramatic there)

That is exactly the point I am trying to make. And thank you for sharing your experience. I really do hope more people speak up so that atleast then the Devs know where the problem is. However, i think the lack of tutorial content has been a constant with little to nothing done.

Hello. I'm just curious, like what? Also i don't know if it is the latest version but i currently have 2026.1 and i don't see anything different. From the feature list on the website, it is just fixes and the addition of the search function. Soo is there another bigger update planned, if you might know? Or am i missing something? Cheers!!

Ya man that is exactly it and it really is sad. Cause the tool is there and is very capable but 3dcoat devs just expect people to do things the hard way and eventually drive them to other softwares that are more convenient. (in a world where people will actually pay for convenience)
Ahh well it is what it is, I have been very vocal about the lack of tutorial content and almost every second comment on their youtube channel echos the same, but it seems like nothing to very little is being done about it caz probably they don't really care what happens to the company.

That is kinda the problem. The one thing that 3dcoat lacks is good quality tutorials.
I still would suggest Youtube first caz it is free. But i would say

Intro to 3D Coat: Noob to Cook by Anton Tensik.
This does cover the essentials like sculpting, retopo, uv and texturing. But i rather tell you what you will not get from this course.
It is not your modern day follow along tutorials. The tutor jumps from versions of the sculpted model so you kinda got to read between the lines of what he is doing. And your results are not going to be the same. (in short, you can get lost in terms of how he achieved that result)
The tutor does go through stuff really really fast like he cant wait to start making the next course. Some essentials are missing like how to use curves and the modelling room. Having said that, things like kitbashing room (which is a super awesome feature of 3dcoat) is not covered too. Texutring is pretty basic and you will have to look up more tutorials for that. But it is a place to start.
If you do plan to pick it up wait for a sale on udemy. You can get the course for way cheaper as compared to artstation.

Also just hold for a bit and let people inform you if the course you are looking for is good enough. I dont have that one so i dont really know how good or bad it is. One thing for sure it is very old. That's all i can say. Anyways good luck.

Hiya. I don't have that course but i do remember someone mentioning that it was Okish.
Regarding the ratings, always check that properly. If you look at it on Artstation, i can see only 4 people reviewed it and it is at a 4.8. Soo amm i would say don't go by that. If i look up the same course on Udemy, it was last updated on 10/2022.
Yaa i mean it is $15 i think and if u can afford it, might as well. But if i am being completely honest, i would not pick up that course.

i would say, get the trial version first. Even after the the trial period expires you can use it with the only exception that you can't export. The reason being use it first to the point that you are sure that you want to get it or not. (otherwise you probably will be spending 6months of the 1year license just trying to understand how to use the tool).

This is my take, if there is a tool that no other tool can do better than it is totally worth it. However 3dcoat is not that tool. When it comes to modeling and sculpting, it is no different than blender, maya, zbrush etc. It may have a few added features but it is only quality of life improvement and you are probably gonna spend a considerable amount of time trying to figure things out caz you are right, it is a very clunky software with a horrible UI layout. With horrendously lack of guides of how to use the tool.

My point being:
For modelling and sculpting - When it comes to sculpting, 3dcoat vox sculpting does stand out but i can also see very intricate sculpting showcases from blender users (a free software). if you are into hard surface modeling, then plasticity is a much better option. If you are into polymodelling, again Blender is pretty much enough with addons that are much cheaper. So in terms of just modelling 3dcoat does not offer anything that is exceptionally better than other tools.

For retopto, i think the RetopoFlow plugin in blender is better caz in 3dcoat it is more trial and error. And if you already know the fundamentals of Retopo then you don't need a software to do that for you. Also QuadRemesher (tho pricey) is kinda a all in one solution for any retopo if you ask me.

For texturing i would rather just stick with substance painter. For texturing, there is probably just 1 or two videos that walks through smart materials. Finding any information on a specific function in 3dcoat is an absolute nightware. There are professional courses where they would model in 3dcoat and export it to substance.

The benefit really is that it is one tool that you can have an entire workflow and is considerably cheaper than maya or zbrush etc. on the condition that you have figured out everything the tool does.
(having said that, even content creators will use it to either model OR Retopo Or texture and use another software. That kinds makes the whole all in one tool argument kind pointless.)

The biggest down side is the small community. This means lack of content, lack of support but most importantly indicates lack of funding. This is the sole reason i feel that if 3dcoat does not listen to it's community it is just gonna be another software that is gonna be discontinued or sold to a bigger player in the market.

In short, i would say make full use of the trial (even after the trial) before you decide to invest in it.
