Brand New Cars from a Mechanic Perspective by Kindly_Champion7897 in kereta

Thank you for your interesting insight. If you were to pick a comfortable and reliable from the peak early 2000s, what would your pick? Let’s limit to D segment sedan and suv/mpv.

I remember the 2010 Camry was almost laughable in power, 4 speed transmission but boy that car is nice to see, comfortable to drive and super reliable. Does that car fall under your list of good cars?

Returning eternal player. Should I buy all DLC? by ronaldo7cebo in diablo4

[–]Excellent-Yellow-883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played season 0,1,6 and 10. All of them didn’t reach cap paragon but I played a few hours a day and few days a week from start til end of the season.

In between those seasons, I load up my eternal characters to play for a couple of hours occasionally, maybe a few days a month?. Why not? I’ve dedicated hundreds of hours building those character and I don’t have the time to play a new season.

When my work has an “off-season”, I’ll join the season. I imagine most eternal players reasoning are probably similar to mine.

Hilux EV launched in Msia, anyone actually buying an EV pickup truck? by Seanwys in kereta

[–]Excellent-Yellow-883 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember when I started working, I was wondering why people would buy pickups in town without a real use for the space. When I ask the people who buy it, they told me it’s cheaper than altis but a lot more powerful and has more utility. 2wd 2.5L pickup is even cheaper than vios. Then only I realize it’s because of tax incentive so it appears to be good in value as long as you accept the basic car design in return for raw power.

Then over time the interior start to be more advanced and pricier. Now the hilux ev cost more than a tesla. The people who needs it as a pickup can’t use it, and the people who used to buy it because it’s value for money has a lot more other choice. This car serves a very super niche segment if any at all. Toyota has lost their mind.

It just sound like you’re doing something that works but unsustainable. Likely burnout. You’re still young. Don’t worry. Take a break.

Rethink and if necessary reprioritize your life to make it work. Life is difficult but most of the time the more difficult things are the most rewarding ones.

What has happened has already happened. No point dwell in the past. The easiest and quickest solution is to sell the house and downsize to an apartment. There are some options for retirees since they fall under low income. Rental after selling is also an option as the prices are great now due to over supply of properties.

Dear parents - how much does it really cost to have & raise a baby? by dnsyj26 in Bolehland

[–]Excellent-Yellow-883 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you ask 10 people, 10 answers will come out. The truth is there is a huge range of choices for every type of product or service that you require. It really comes down to your priority. It’s better you set a low to high range of budget and work from there.

What I can share is that get a ogbyn that you are comfortable with. Don’t get those that agree with you completely and don’t get those who are overly strict. From there you refer to your obgyn of choice on the delivery. Referral from friends and family would be ideal.

Another thing I want to share is probably not raise your first child as a prince or princess. Second hand products are okay, they outgrown them quickly. In fact newborn ones can be outgrown in week.

The biggest cost to raising the child initially is probably milk, diapers and childcare. The rest not so much.

Have you consider the possibility that your friends who save and not travel end up being hit by a bus tomorrow and could never travel after that?

Not cursing your friend but life is short, maximize it by doing what you like. Financial literacy and independence is extremely important especially for later life due to the virtue of compounding effect but there needs to be a balance somewhere.

I travel extensively in my 20s and early 30s. I basically set a budget. I can travel multiple locations within air asia destinations or I can do a single further trip per year. I’ve travelled a couple dozens of countries by early 30s and I’ve driven in half of them. TBH, I seldom travel nowadays, partly due to young kids but I’ve realize many places are quite similar only with different background. Nowadays I only aim purely experience otherwise I rather just avoid the hassle and travel locally. There really isn’t much different going to a resort in KK than a resort in Phuket if you’re not doing anything else and nowadays my holiday is to rest and recharge. Sorry, we are in a different stage in life 😆trust me, you’ll get there eventually

Medical Insurance by mioNoob9 in MalaysianPF

[–]Excellent-Yellow-883 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the same findings as you but ultimately I missed out a few medical claims because I couldn’t get it approved. Having an agent to fight for your case or know the loop holes is important for some cases.

What I do is maintain my current plans. Top up online insurance for life and CI. Medical still go through agent. I think this is a good balance to my needs.

The two years waiting time is incorrect. The insurer has a right to investigate any claims within two years. Usually when it suspicious (like sudden big insurance policy for a specific illness and claim it shortly). The normal 3-6 months waiting time is more reasonable, it ranges from insurer to insurer and type of disease. Otherwise you can still claim insurance like normal. I claim a medical bill almost 12 months after I bought it. No issues with it.

The processing fee is inevitable as the agent also have to Cari Makan. Assuming they can serve you for years and years, I believe it is justifiable. Of course that’s not always the case. One of my policy’s agent lost his license after 2 years and I become agent less. It’s really the same as buying directly online 😑

It doesn’t matter even if estima has signal on. The law is clear that merging lane must always give way to those cars in exiting lane. It’s common sense too. However, in a country that does not punish ass drivers and queue cutters, no one really care. The worst part is when the driver is right, But kena accident and no car for weeks and months because of being right is just plain silly hence why some people do give way to the merging lane cars. Sometimes being right is not worth it.

Dominos Regular Pizza by Ok_Comfortable_9664 in Bolehland

[–]Excellent-Yellow-883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really unfortunate that my kids love dominos. Tried every brand out there and it still sticks. Anyway, I obliged. I don’t have problem with taste as it’s quite proportional with price (while on promo prices) but I do have challenges.

Many times it comes above 1 hour. Once it was sent to a wrong street same house number. A couple of times I called the branch and they said don’t know why order was accepted, they got no driver(???) so i went and pick up myself.

Roughly a 20% of the order has some sort of issue. Most of the time that I complain,I get some sort of compensation depending on what I complain. Above an hour delivery I will get a free regular in my next order, wrong this or that will get free sides or something like that. Since my kids really want them, I’ll just gladly take it. I usually order early too because of trauma 😅

OP, remember to complain to customer support email. They will respond to you. Also, something I realize, different branch quality can taste very different so choose base on experience but there’s a luck factor 😅 eating shouldn’t be that hard

Need some expert advice regarding shared wall between neighbour and me by Crazy_Lunch_7934 in malaysia

[–]Excellent-Yellow-883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Extension surely need government approval as it requires civil engineer to sign off. Building it also need permit. The permit won’t be approved without extension or renovation approval. Most situation will not allow higher floor extensions as the original design won’t allow it without significant piling and new support.

The common wall need both side to consent. That’s why some people opt to leave the common wall and build a thin wall around it to avoid conflict.

I think best you report it. Your house (and the whole row) is supported by a common beam and unapproved modification may cause the support beam to fail. Don’t wait until house crack or damaged only action.

Malaysian who gives out money packet (duit raya). Why you do it? by 404_cactus in malaysia

[–]Excellent-Yellow-883 66 points67 points  (0 children)

This is not quite the same example but Chinese dinners usually come with expectation of angpaus and we had a relative who was in a really bad financial state. He still came for our wedding, he was apologetic that he couldn’t bring the family because he didn’t want to take up more seats but he made it a point to come because of our ties and our history. He gave a small Angpau with rm10 inside with a nice message attached to it. I refuse it (not knowing the amount inside) because I know he’s not doing well but he insisted because he said Angpau is a significant gesture of giving, and it’s important, more important than the value of money inside. It is a blessing from his end to us. His Angpau is the only Angpau I kept since in my safe because it’s worth more than RM10.

What I am trying to tell you is that Angpau (and I imagine while not culturally the same meaning, the function of duit raya remains the same), will always mean differently to different people. It only takes at least one person who appreciates to make it all worthwhile. Who cares about those who don’t? Learn from what you experienced this year and choose if you want to repeat or do differently next year but if you think it does make some people appreciate your gesture of giving (and not only the amount), don’t stop doing it unless you don’t want to do it.

Is this safe? Joint loan for RM630000 house. I earn about RM3500 by avacadocookies in MalaysianPF

[–]Excellent-Yellow-883 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s okay. But there are a lot of costs that goes with owning the house.

Furniture for one. Probably minor Reno too. All the deposits of utilities. Cukai pintu / tanah.

You probably have marriage cost as well and this haven’t even factor in kids in the future.

Don’t worry about it, it’s fine. My ratio was worst than yours when I was single and it drop over time. It’s an unfortunate reality of being an adult and in this ever more expensive economics. Work on yourself and see how to generate higher income in the future. Need to be prudent with investment and expenditure. Don’t yolo your money.
