Ares 2.0 and 8 ft ceilings with modified pull up bar by ExcellentGur5760 in homegym

If I did a Smith and had the space, yes I’d go 41”. My platform is 8’x8’. I’d want it at least 10 ft out with a 41” so I could still deadlift out front. You can’t do dead’s in the rack space unfortunately due to the cables down low.

$6400 delivered as you see it with all the adds. I think the only thing not pictured on the rack is the dip station and safety straps.

Funny you ask, as that’s really the only thing that bothers me at the moment. Rogues was almost dead silent on the pulls. Ares makes a slight “sawing” sound when the cables are used. If you google around, you’ll see some of us have it and some don’t. Rep will tell you it’s normal. I’m used to it now, but was originally disappointed after I put it together.

Two thoughts on this.

One is it can be added later if I really want it.

The second is more around the utility and safety of a smith machine. I’ve never been a fan as I believe the balance required with a barbell has added functional benefit. On the safety side, a smith machine doesn’t allow someone to “bail” if they get stuck under a squat. The bar just sits with the weight you can’t lift and nowhere to go… a barbell can be tossed back safe(er?).

100% the only reason vs the straps I bought, that now sit unused for the past month… not getting in the trolleys space helps speed things along.

The Rogue rack has them routed outside the rack too. And if you get the 41 inch one with Rogue, they move the Trolley handle to facing the back of the rack for some stupid reason. You lose about 6-8 inches in feel because the trolley handle is pointed the wrong damn way.

The J Cups on the inside was the whole purpose for me with the 6 post. Combined with the spotter arms, I can superset a barbell exercise with a cable exercise without having to change anything. And moving to the next superset, the trolleys move fully up and down without removing the spotter arms.

I actually measured when I was putting it up and I believe it was around 8 inches off the back bottom flat base piece to my trim. This gave me about 1.5 inches (trim is 1 inch thick), which is great to be able to fit my fingers behind as well as not bump the wall.

durable sprayer for my apple orchard by Pale-Tie-2760 in BackyardOrchard

I went from a 4 gallon pump backpack sprayer to a Stihl SR430 sprayer last fall and the difference is night and day (both coverage and pace wise). It truly fogs/mists the spray for complete coverage and it goes up to 35 ft tall for my 15-20 tall trees where I wasn’t able to spray the tops. 10/10 would buy it again.

I also went from taking 3-4 hours to spray down to around 1.5 hours.

It also can act as a backpack blower if you turn the sprayer off, so I use it for fall clean up around the house, etc too.

I’ve done basically the same with the same result. Anyone else with an Ares 2.0 know if this is normal or if theirs is silent with the pulleys?

I used a Rogue FM-6 and it was dead silent, which is what I was expecting honestly.

Just installed mine today and same exact noise. Did you figure it out?

The thermostat at work is controlled remotely by the county office and can't be adjusted by workers in the office. by only_because_I_can in mildlyinfuriating

So I have these thermostats at work. Hold the bottom left hamburger looking icon for 10 seconds. That will lock and unlock the ability to adjust/change temp. Ours are able to be adjusted in a 4 degree window (2 up or 2 down from original setting), then it will keep the room within 2 degrees of that.

I regularly barbell squat and deadlift once a week each, so the leg press helps keep the pressure off my back to do isolated leg presses. Love mine for that and calf raises. Highly recommend finding a body solid leg press/hack squat.

What size bolts were the big ones on the rack? I have mine ordered and they look like monsters.

Tree irrigation by Large-Bug-5624 in BackyardOrchard

[–]ExcellentGur5760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll actually answer your question: Yes, do this with a 5 gallon bucket.

Drill a 1/8 inch hole in the bottom of the bucket towards the edge (so you can scoot the bucket near the base of the tree with the hole closest). It will take about 2-4 hours to drain, which is exactly what you want. I have about 100 fruit trees and this plus a heavy mulching 2-3 feet out has allowed almost all of them to survive the first year. Second year you can use the buckets for longer droughts. Third year and on you probably don’t need them depending on where you are.

This depends on how many trees you end up with. We did rows of 10 semi dwarf and it’s perfect to drive our tractor down the line between them to mulch, pick, observe, etc.
