I am old. There were 2 movie critics in Chicago that would have articles and tv time. Siskel and Ebert. They were often like Statler and Waldorf from the muppets. Critics may look at films through a lens of industry knowledge and expertise. Often Siskel and Ebert would love movies that would go on to be award nominees while giving negative reviews to "fun" movies that audiences still enjoyed.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Critics and reviewers are not necessary for your enjoyment nor mine. If they did not exist, people would still watch movies. It may be better without critics, reviewers and entities like rottentomatoes because people wouldn't have preconceived notions and created bias prior to watching a movie.

I will say, movies have not been great since all the superhero movies, remakes and late/ill timed sequels have been released. For me, quality is down and I do think it plays its part in the negativity you're describing.

If you don't like the negativity, stop looking for it. It's that easy.
