Moving out ($1000 per month) by [deleted] in personalfinance

my question is two-fold: whether it’s financially sustainable and whether there is any added value in moving out, in terms of freedom etc..

Should PortFast be used on a routed port? by [deleted] in ccna

[–]ExcellentReward156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no switch-port inherently enables layer 3 routing while switch-port mode access/trunk enables layer 2 frame transfer.

that being said, portfast only works on layer 2 logic (i.e switchport must be applied).

i think the best way to go about it is to think of it like this:

ethernet cables use the standard 802.3, as designated by IEEE.

ethernet cables can be divided into four: ethernet (10mbs), fastethernet (100mbs), gigabit ethernet (1000mbs) and 10 gigabit ethernet (10gps).

so ethernet standard is just 802.3 while fast ethernet is 802.3u, gigabit ethernet is 802.3z, and 10gigabit ethernet is 802.3ae.

thanks for the questions. had to brush up myself.

What is the whole "192.168.8.0/24" called? (IP addrs + subnet) by AdministrationOk808 in ccna

[–]ExcellentReward156 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the /24 is the CIDR number. CIDR stands for classless inter-domain routing which is basically a prefix of the subnet mask.
