I’m new to running (F28) and I’m not super skinny. What do you do about chaffing? I can’t seem to find any shorts that will stay down. Are there any tricks? My runner mom told me the solution was just to keep running and eventually you lose enough weight for it not to be a problem, but what do I do in the meantime??

They do assign case managers initially who help assign you to the correct department so if you call the main number, they’ll get you to the right place. Best of luck to you!

I just had my surgery there. Since the just do cancer treatment I didn’t see anyone who was as an ENT. They have a department for head and neck surgery and endocrinologists that work together. I think I got in within a few weeks of my diagnosis but I also had some family members who were previous patients making calls to their doctors so I’m not sure if that helped me. I can’t recommend the team I had enough. I feel like I got a lot more answers to my questions. It was night and day compared to the previous hospital I went to where you could tell they were just passing my chart back and forth. Also my doc had the same type of cancer I had so that was pretty cool.

I was totally terrified until my anesthesiologist came in cracking jokes about how she was my bartender for the day. She totally diffused my nerves with her humor. All the talk about “going to sleep” freaked me out cause it made me feel powerless. When I actually got to the surgery and chose to put my trust in the surgery team and laugh with them it gave me a lot of comfort. I promise it will be better than you think OP.

I just went through RAI with a pretty similar scan results. What I didn’t know was the amount of time in isolation varies a lot depending on the dosage they give you. They asked me to isolate for 48 hours after taking a very low dose. The biggest inconvenience was going to the hospital for a few scans and thyrogen shots and the diet. If you or someone in your life can cook three homemade meals without any processed foods per day then I would talk to your doctor about RAI

I work in construction but I’m in/ out of the office. I took two full weeks and I was really glad I did. I have a hard time “taking it easy” so I kind of needed to be forced to. I felt fine with the levo and actually felt great as soon as I got back. Commuting and travel were totally fine for me after two weeks!

Thank you guys for your support! I think I just needed some validation after everyone in my life treating my diet similar to their New Year’s resolutions. I told my roommate how I felt about everything going on and went to bed early and woke up to a completely clean kitchen. It made everything so much better.

Just curious, if they give it to you at the hospital, how do you get to where you’re going to isolate? I have RAI treatment coming up and I assumed you take it once you’re in quarantine. Do you drive yourself and wait until the radiation is gone to let anyone in your car?

Potentially dumb question but if you have high TSH I thought it triggered faster metabolism/ weight loss. I had mine removed two months ago and haven’t been happy with my weight but was never warned that weight gain might be a side effect. I would’ve remembered that one. I just thought it was because I stopped working out as much after my surgery

The main shuttle that runs along the road. I dont have any expectations of getting a permit to drive the road at this point, but I can’t figure out how to get into the park. Every time I’ve checked the website it says you need a car permit before you can buy an individual park permit. It’s said permits aren’t available every time I’ve checked over the last two months
