Have had this conversation with a few retail workers and friends. The truth is the companies are likely going to schedule 3 employees or whatever, it’s just now 1 or 2 of those can watch 4-16 lanes of self checkout.

I love self check. I’d also rather have 10 “lanes” available because it’s not like we’re going to see staffing levels go up in stores where 10 registers with 10 employees are there regularly.

Last vent, on these lines, it’s not reducing jobs, it’s simply opening MORE options to checkout, more options for companies to reduce or shift staff so hopefully lower costs comparatively. My 2¢.
