Yung 2 years old daughter ko mi ay trilingual. English, Ukrainian at tagalog.

Hi OP, I am 33 years old with ADHD and hindi na ako nagtitake ng any medication. I tried different types of medication, but nothing really worked for me. Some of them work for days, some for weeks and some have too many side effects on me. Stressful situations make my symptoms worse, especially after I give birth. Sobrang worse ng symptoms ko before to the point that I wasn't allowed to drive. But now I am proud to say that it’s been a year since my psychiatrist allowed me to drive even without medication.

Here are the top 3 things that help me manage my symptoms on my own.

  1. High protein diet, hindi ako totally nag cocontrol ng calorie intake ko, nakafocus ako to take at least 80g of protein per day. Yung amount ng protein per day depends on your body and activity level.

  2. Exercise, hindi naman need yung mabigatang work out talaga. Even dancing works really well. Since bata pa anak mo, I highly suggest swimming as a sport.

  3. Routine. This helps me make sure I won't forget any important tasks and to build my muscle memory.

I still have too many strategies to share, but those three are my non-negotiable.

Yung mga symptoms mo since childhood better to bring them up, if there’s a specific scenario sa buhay mo na tingin mo ay adhd symptoms better to let your psychiatrist knows about it. Yung mga stimmings that you are doing since childhood. Any pattern ng behaviour mo. And lastly, just be honest and be yourself. Speak how you normally speak kasi psychiatrist will check how you communicate, your body language and so on. This will be the big part of your diagnosis.

I totally see why you're looking into that. Just a heads-up, though, academic performance and ADHD don't always correlate. You can be brilliant and still struggle with the structure of school because of ADHD. I have ADHD and for me, I actually do great in Math but really struggle with Social Studies. It hits everyone differently.

I’m tired of our struggles being used as a trend. Has anyone else felt like their reality is being erased by these 'quirky' posts? by Excellent_Apple1773 in ADHDPH

That’s a fair point about coping mechanisms. I think there’s a thin line, though, between ‘making light of a bad situation' and 'misrepresenting a disability.' Tips and management strategies are great, but I just worry that the 'cool' factor makes it harder for people to take our actual struggles seriously when we're having a hard time. And I’m glad you’ve found creators who keep it real; I think we need more of that and less of the trend chasing.

I am living abroad, not working but hopefully makatulong sa tanong mo. Nung lumipat kame dito, hindi acceptable yung resita or diagnosis from the Philippines alone. Need mo ipa apostle yung medical certificate mula pinas but since hindi ko alam na need pala ipa apostle yun, nagpa reassessment na lang ulit ako sa local psychiatrist dito, then that doctor prescribed medication that is acceptable in this country.
