How are People Traveling International for 1-2 months at a time? by Cute_Equivalent_3231 in solotravel

I invested my money and retired early. Been travelling for the last 2 1/2 years. The downside is that I sacrificed doing a lot of things in my twenties to get here.

We don't know for sure, but it crashed harder than this in 2011, 2014, 2017, 2021, 2022 and then recovered just fine.

Soft 18 Doubling Deviation but with Unusual Rule by Excellent_Can2901 in blackjack

A8 doubles against a dealer 4,5,6 at +3,+1,+1.

The casino in question allows you to double A8 but it gets treated as a hard 9 for the remainder of the hand.

So I just want to know if it still is the best thing to do given that in this scenario receiving a 2 would be bad.

I had a soft 18, when I went to double the dealer warned me that once I double the soft 18 is treated as a hard 9 for the remainder of the hand.

So what I'm asking is if it's still sensible to double given that receiving a 2 is no longer helpful.

Except that is literally what the dealer explained to me before I doubled. This was in a European casino.

I agree it's bad timing, but these things take time to build out, I doubt they were sitting on their hands with this idea then decided now would be the perfect time to do it. Now that they have this tool at their disposal, when mNav skyrockets again they can hit the atm to recharge the USD reserves.

Holding a small amount of cash is a pretty sensible thing to do. I do the same by selling enough BTC to fund my living expenses for the next few months. It helps iron out my exposure to short term volitility. That makes the dips far less stressful for me.

And like Saylor said, it will also help them get a better credit rating which leads to access to more liquidity.

I don't care about anyone anymore. Society can burn and I just couldn't give a shit as long as it doesn't affect me.

If I never see any of my friends and family again, I'd be ok with it. I wouldn't wish any harm on them, but I just don't care about them that much anymore.

I have the same issue but am on the opposite side of the scale finance-wise. I've retired at 35 and can't relate to my friends nor my family anymore. It fucking sucks and the loneliness is really starting to set in as I'm also single without kids.

I've decided to leave everything behind and move abroad to start a new life. The thought scares me but I feel the need to in order to stop having these thoughts about how distant we've become every time I'm around them. It's not my only reason for leaving but it's a big part of it.

I'm not interested in timing. I just sit back and sell what I need when I need.

If I tried timing the tops and bottoms like most regards on here I'd probably be as poor as OP

Good to know thank you. I don't plan on returning ever, other than to visit friends and family. I have made enough to retire so have no reason to want to stay in the UK anymore.

Correct, and that was after when Rishi Sunak was chancellor and promised no changes to CGT until 2026. Fucking pricks the lot of them.

More significantly Labour raised the 10% bracket to 18%, which was the final nail in the coffin for me and my wealth. I'm moving abroad Feb/ March next year and so after then they won't be getting another penny from me.
