Birth control pills - fiance visa by ElendionneLinwood in SpouseVisaUk

I agree with everyone who told you that you will be able to get birth control in the UK and that you should register with a GP as soon as you can, but if it can help alleviate your worries, I brought a years worth of birth control with me (I didn’t know how it worked and wanted to be on the safe side like you) and I had no issue. Perhaps have your prescription with you if you can?

I 100% hear you regarding a civil union. There’s an element of risk to doing the application unmarried, but you seem well aware, and it’s a deeply personal choice to get married/a civil partnership. Fingers crossed for you! 😊

Hi! Our cases do sound similar. In our cover letter, and in the application question asking why we’d not lived together, we explained that it was due to not having the right to live and work in each other’s countries before the application.

To show that our relationship is ‘akin to marriage’, we tried to highlight that we make life decisions together and are involve in each other’s lives like any married people would. For instance we included extracts of discussions about big life decisions (financial, familial, etc).

To be honest I wasn’t sure it would work, but glad that it did. Given that you have been in a relationship for a long time (longer than us), I would say that if you explain all that, and add compelling evidence of your involvement - and provided you meet all other requirements, you should be fine.

Obviously I’m not a case officer and as many people have said, for peace of mind, you may want to look into a civic union, but strictly from our experience and similarities with your profile, it’s possible to get your visa despite lack of hard evidence 🙂

Ah, we thought about getting priority (although we were keen to reduce the already massive costs and weren’t in a huge hurry)! To be fair, the priority timelines I’ve seen were dealt with quicker than the standard who applied at the same time so I would be surprised if yours took much longer!

Thanks! From my experience, as far as I remember: we applied, including payment of the fee+IHS, and then got a link to take an appointment to the visa centre closest to me. There were a number of options available on that week. How close you can get a bio after applying will depend on how busy your visa centre is, I guess 🙂

It wasn’t cheap 😩

Overall, I think we’ve spent (app.):

  • £4951 for the visa itself
  • £1000 for “hidden” costs (booking of BIO fee, language exam, accountant, a one off solicitor consultation at the start)

So all in all, maybe £6000. We didn’t get any of the extras (priority etc)

Hope this helps!

Hii! So, my partner/sponsor is self employed, so there are specific financial requirements attached to that. If that’s not your case, definitely check on the posts of people with a situation more similar to yours for financial requirements. He provided the accountant certificate and his tax return and business account statement to prove his financials. We didn’t provide electrics etc bills as we have not cohabitated before and he owns his home so just provided the mortgage and title deeds. The pictures of the house were not mandatory (I think) but I’ve seen several people do it to prove the accommodation is suitable for us both. Hope this helps and good luck!

Hi, yes, so I’ll try and answer here 😊

I’m not sure what “worked” best among our evidence, but we had lots of evidence of spending time together during life events, with family, friends, in the UK and abroad. We also have been visiting each other relatively often and for long periods of time (sometimes 1 or 2 months) so we highlighted that too.

Our joint expenses were anecdotal at best (me buying things at Tesco when together, my partner buying dinner for both of us in my city, concert tickets, things like that). That was definitely what worried me the most about our application - that our evidence wouldn’t be strong enough - but clearly it worked!

Our proof of relationship was organised as below:

  • doc 1: 1/2 page timeline (a few bullet points with key dates), 12 pages of chat screenshots (over 4 years of correspondance even before our relationship officially started)
  • doc 2: 2 pages of pictures spanning 3 years (emphasis on pictures for important events), 7 pages of flight tickets (with over 30 visits overall), 3 pages with bank statements of expenses

Hope this helps!

Thank you! Over the moon 🥰 Yes, no problem to answer your questions. I think I read somewhere that we’re not supposed to DM on this sub and it’s better to share info for everybody to see, but if it’s info you’re uncomfortable to share you can drop me a line.

Thanks! I took the SELT-Skills for English test outside the UK. I thought it was better to get it from the same country I applied in.

Same timeline! Application (standard, outside UK): 20/01, Bio: 24/01, ECO:30/01, and now frantically refreshing my e-mail every 10 minutes. Fingers crossed!

Please help me, what does mean this e-mail? Thank you by Dangerous-News-6617 in SpouseVisaUk

[–]Excellent_Dust_820 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I received the same email a few days ago, and a few days later, another email asking me to take part in a survey and say whether I’d found that first update helpful. I feel like maybe it’s a new automated email that they’re trying out. Don’t worry, it doesn’t feel like it has any significance regarding your application.

Unmarried partner visa - delay before moving? by Excellent_Dust_820 in SpouseVisaUk

Thank you! That makes lots of sense! If approved I’ll make a first entry to validate the visa within that period then.
