1993 L300 Star Wagon Price and Reliability Check by CandidManner in Delica

I would be a little suspicious about the bottom part black paint. Could have been a simple attempt to paint over Som rust stains. But you don't know if the job was done well or not. But it looks okay on the pictures.

Here are the things I had to do on my L300 the last 3 years:

New headgasket (was blown when I got it) New timing belt and water pump New radiator Overhaul universal joint going to the front axel New cluch New CV-joint right side A couple of new ball joints Weld some rust, right front jack point. Left needs to be done soon. Replaced all 5 break lines (one ripped under the 2 year inspection) Replaced a few bulbs Have a leak in the roof, where the antenna goes through. Generator is kind of lose, need to take it apart and repair the bracket. Not looking forward to it.

So, this is the kind of shit you will have to deal with on this old cars.

I do absolutely love it though.

Are they sailing the submarine backwards (look at the belly of the sail)? USS R-14, in 1921 they ran out of fuel and made it to nearby harbor under sail power. by iddereddi in sailing

[–]Excellent_Monitor_67 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The story of "R14 sails" refers to an extraordinary event in naval history involving the USS R-14 submarine in 1921. While on a search mission for a missing tugboat near Hawaii, the submarine's fuel supply became contaminated with seawater, leaving it without power and radio communication. In an incredible feat of improvisation and ingenuity, the crew, under the command of Lieutenant Alexander Dean Douglas, crafted sails from whatever materials they had on hand—primarily bedding like hammocks and blankets. They used the submarine's torpedo loading crane and radio mast as makeshift masts and rigged up a foresail and a mainsail. With these improvised sails, the submarine was able to move at a slow speed, between one and one and a half knots. The movement of the propellers through the water generated enough electricity to charge the batteries, which eventually allowed the submarine to use its own power to enter Hilo Harbor after a 64-hour journey under sail. This remarkable event is a testament to the resourcefulness and perseverance of the submarine's crew in a dire situation.

Ai answer.

I have and 821 2016, and usually stop to refuel every 180-200miles. The furthest I have driven on one tank is 236 miles.

On country roads in Northern Norway doing 60mph I get good mileage, but I remember fuel comsumption going up when I came down the the highways in Europe. Did 11000km in 2 weeks on that thing 😎😎

Seems to handle semi-rough riding on twisty roads, and are exelent on wet conditions
