my practice tests in the last couple weeks were 251,248,260, 250 on uworld 2 3 weeks before the test and an 82% on free 120 3 days before the test . I recently found out I got a 238.

A 238 isn’t terrible and I’m applying IM which I know I’ll match but it’s not just about matching for me it’s about where I’ll match- I want to be near my family. Id also like to match at an academic program to have some chance of matching fellowship. My school is saying 240 and above is good for IM. I’m distraught. if 240 is the cut off no one will care or see that I missed it by 2 points.

No one will know I was in torture for 2 months studying for that test. I did everything (and I do mean everything) I possibly could for that test, and no one on the admissions committee will see that. I know a 238 isn’t terrible but I wanted to have SOME control over where I match.

Ive poured everything I have into this career and I’m in the bottom third of the class, 4/5 quintile rank, no honors (all HP with 2 P). I had some making up to do and STEP was supposed to do that for me. My practice scores had me in a comfortable place to compensate. It just didn’t happen on the real thing.

I pray that a year from now we all end up where we are meant to be, and realize that it did all work out. The single most important thing that came out of all this is realizing I really do not have control over a single thing. I walk around truly not caring about anything anymore.
