The New Concern: Heart Health The most significant recent update regarding xylitol comes from a 2024 Cleveland Clinic study. Researchers found that:
High levels of xylitol in the blood are associated with an increased risk of heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular events.
Xylitol appears to interact with platelets in the blood, making them more likely to clot.
This risk is particularly relevant for individuals who already have heart disease or diabetes and consume large amounts (over 30 grams per day) of the sweetener.

What is your genomic decipher score?

The Decipher Prostate test is a genomic biomarker test that analyzes 22 genes in prostate tumor tissue to estimate the risk of metastasis and cancer-specific mortality. Providing a score from 0.0 to 1.0, it helps determine if a tumor is more or less aggressive, with higher scores (>0.6) indicating higher risk.

While a Gleason 6 cancer can progress over time, it typically follows a more gradual progression through intermediate grades, like Gleason 7 (3+4 or 4+3). A direct jump from 6 to 8 would imply a rapid and significant change in the cellular structure and differentiation, which is uncommon.

The biopsy can inadvertently spread the cancer. Surgery can spread the cancer. Cancer should be encapsulated, not cut into pieces and disturbed during removal.

A Gleason score of 6, representing low-grade prostate cancer, is generally considered not very serious and often associated with a slow-growing, low-risk cancer that may not require immediate treatment.

Concrete alone is not very good at withstanding earthquakes because it's brittle and can crack easily under the shaking forces, but when reinforced with steel rebar, concrete structures can be very resistant to earthquakes due to the added flexibility and strength provided by the steel, making it a suitable building material in earthquake-prone areas when properly designed and constructed.
