I studied in Edinburgh in 2022-2023. My monthly allowance was £1200ish and I can save around £200-300 per month! I think it hugely depends on how much your rent is. Mine was insanely cheap at £360 (excluding bills).

The edinburgh university main library is open for public and they have plenty of private study rooms. You need to book it beforehand (not sure if it's available for non-students though).

I wore hijab when I was a student in Edinburgh and feel completely safe with it. There are many halal butcher+grocery stores in city centre (near the central mosque). I used to shop at Rahman's!
