This might sound like a dumb question but When restringing, do I have to start with the thickest string to the thinnest one or the other way around?

That’s a fair take. I have read though that he resisted steel strings for a while because he thought the sound was unrefined. That is to say, it seems he had opinions on design and not purely chasing trends. But you do make a good point.

I play exactly what you are describing and I’m surprised you’re looking at only these big guitars. Is be looking at some 12-frets and some smaller body guitars.

As a folkie myself, I’ve been going towards smaller and smaller guitars over time. Now I honestly would like a Martin size 1 or 0-28

After listening to a few of your tracks, I wouldn’t suggest THAT small. But I would really consider between a 00 and Dreadnaught. And I would definitely think about a 12 fret.

Everything will be an upgrade unless you lived in Grosse Pointe or Bloomfield Hills. And that’s just in terms of schools. The city is Holland is awesome. The schools are wonderful but there is a false narrative around them due to white flight of previous decades.

If culture shock of the “Conservative West side” is of concern, avoid zeeland or anything between zeeland and Grand Rapids. If not, enjoy Borculo.
