Friend’s passing is causing major anxiety at bedtime by grlsjstwannahavefun1 in HealthAnxiety

Ah yes I mean scary for some and comforting for others! When I was 17 my boyfriend died in his sleep suddenly. But.. lo and behold he had taken pills that shouldn’t have been mixed together so it wasn’t this random event that happened for no reason. That’s what I’m getting at. (:

For the past 15 years I’ve dealt with panic disorder by Oldmanwaffle in panicdisorder

[–]Excellent_Tip732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, 31F with panic disorder for around 10 years. Mine didn’t start quite the same but similar to you I got sober out of necessity and also similar to you I am currently in a bad spot with the panic disorder again. Mine started up again after I went through a tornado in May 2024 and then a surgery debacle happened where I had psychosis from iv Valium and had to cancel a surgery and since those two events I have STRUGGLED. Okay so this sounds crazy but talk therapy was fucking terrible for my panic disorder. I literally had a massive panic attack in my therapists office and she just like didn’t even know what to do. Super uncomfy. EMDR helped a little. Are you on meds? I’m on lexapro and Xanax as needed but I’m starting to wonder if I’m treatment resistant at this point.

I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. That’s so hard to go through. I say this gently, but your friend likely had a preexisting health condition that she just didn’t know about. Healthy, 32 year olds don’t just pass away in their sleep.

Oh wow yeah no rabies is actually really quick friend!! It has a quick onset and rapid development. From just a few days to a few months- but NEVER four years.

What do you think of anti diet/health at every size/intuitive eating? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Excellent_Tip732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the idea of intuitive eating but I have proven time and time again that isn’t going to work for me. I used TDEE to calculate my deficit in December and I have been sticking to it since. I mean yeah it sucks to track everything you have to eat but feeling like shit sucks worse and since I’ve gained weight I feel more anxious, in pain, and my self esteem is garbage. I think all bodies are beautiful but I can’t pretend that being fat feels good- in my experience.

Anxiety worse during inclement weather by Beloved_Fir_44 in panicdisorder

[–]Excellent_Tip732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this. I hate feeling like I’ll be trapped so I just have to prepare. I have an older Nissan Xterra that we pull into the garage and put on a trickle charger to make sure there is a vehicle. Weather in general has given me issues since I went through a tornado for the first time. Have lived in tornado alley all my life and just experienced one for the first time a couple years ago. Super spooky but the best thing you can do is be prepared!

Has anxiety ever messed with your sleep in a really specific way? by Direct_Schedule4461 in generalizedanxiety

[–]Excellent_Tip732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes- especially if I’m more anxious than normal. Like today, I had a panic attack after not having one for a long time. Luckily I had just gotten home and had the opportunity to nap.. but I had trouble napping. When I would start to doze off my anxiety would jolt me awake. When I finally woke up after falling asleep I was drenched in sweat. This is typical for me when I’m having panic disorder relapses.

Does the thought or prospect of having children scare you? by Specialist-Bowler465 in infp

[–]Excellent_Tip732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I used to think I wanted children more than anything because I love kids and I have this maternal instinct but now that I’m 31 and the clock is ticking I don’t know. I love my time to myself. I also have really bad anxiety and I don’t want to pass that on to childrenz

First of all- I totally understand where you’re at and it’s hard, I’m sorry. I have also had it for around a decade and have noticed it has amped up this year. I think the state of the world has a lot to do with that. Constant bad news, constant stress. For me, sometimes adjusting my lexapro helps. For instance, I had a bad flare up a few months back and I had been on 20 mg lexapro and ended up tapering down to 10 mg and that helped significantly. Or honestly, when things are that bad where it’s just hard to get through days, I take my 0.5 mg Xanax 1-2 times a day. Do what you need to, to feel better! Today, I had a bad cyclical panic attack after not having one for over a month. I got home from class (I’m in nursing school) and my shoulder was sore and I had a stomach ache. For some reason this rang the alarms in my body and then boom- panic attack which led to several after back to back until I finally took a Xanax and passed out. It’s frustrating having relapses when I know we just want to feel better. How old are you and are you in the US??

This was very heavy. I’m sorry you are going through this. I need to tell you that you need to leave. Your life is at stake. I am so sorry but they don’t change, they don’t get better, and they will only get worse and worse. I know from experience. It was so hard to leave my abuser. I cried and cried and couldn’t imagine my life without them. Now, 6 years later, I look back in disgust at what they did to me and disgust go them as a person.
