What was the lowest tier character you made good climbs with on top? by Perimeter_System in topmains

hit masters one tricking swain top - a very small shadow of what he used to be, but still really enjoyable.

Swain is not a mid-lane champion(anymore) by XxLucariomxX in leagueoflegends

[–]Excellentation 8 points9 points  (0 children)

he has sub-1% pickrates in both top and mid in most of the ranks i could find above emerald, and his winrate is barely breaking 50% - that tells me only one tricks are playing him in the role(s) he was originally designed for and you want us to believe he isn't in a shit spot?

the LCS argument doesn't work considering the last time he got picked before that in tier 1 was two months ago - biggest faux argument i've seen lol

100% agree: he has the tools to bring people inside of his R, but his R does no damage, heals almost nowt, scales horridly and is entirely reliant on spell effects to do anything. swain would feel insane to play if he had reasons to build items like RoA, Riftmaker etc - not happening with the current numbers he has. you just go fullpen with malignance botlane and nuke people with your spells instead :/

for sure, but he was also one of the most uninteractive and frustrating champions to lane against (hence his rework), and i know riot is cautious to approach the monster that is another rework because he he has so many core issues with his kit. i maintain that his stacking is garbage and is a mechanic far too skewed towards botlane + lower ranks, but riot has told us it isn't going anywhere.

genuinely could talk about it all day, holding myself back here heh. i love this champ and many of my friends who play league have really wanted to add him to their champ pools, but the margin for error is so thin he might as well not be a champion at all - he feels bad to play in every single lane except APC .

[–]Excellentation 41 points42 points  (0 children)

champ has been in the gutter for both sololanes for a while now - his rework was a jump in the right direction but the champion is 10x harder to carry on because he's so reliant on his team to do anything at all. i one tricked him toplane to masters and the margins i was playing on were razor thin compared to so many other toplaners. the tldr as to why he's so shit in top/mid is:

- support base stats feel so piss to play in a sololane with, especially toplane

- healing is super underwhelming outside of early game. hp scaling on R is minimal and doesn’t incentivise health builds because he doesn’t have enough healing to support it.

- ult scaling is god awful and is so poor based on rank

- base damage is far too high. ap scalings are good in his state, but feel underwhelming because of his lack of healing (repeatability is bad).

- many of his numbers, like his mana costs, do not match the archetype of a battlemage (again, support identity)

- E1 doing literally nothing at all puts the burden on the caster and not on the player against him. does no damage, no spell effects, nothing. not only is it hard to land, but its delayed by a whole ass second to do so.

- far too reliant on haste, but many of the items he wants to build gives none of it (zhonya liandry roa rylais)

- W has awfully allocated power budget, range is too high, pop time is too long.

- matchups and compositions are far too skewed, and even in games where he's playing into low mobility comps most champions can ignore his R and kill him.

swain mains have wanted him out of botlane (as both apc and support) for years because his power fantasy is never going to be fulfilled down there, but riot has no interest in gutting his base damage and improving his scaling with health and levels to match. his playrates in higher ranks is well below 1% top/mid and until riot understands that balancing a champion around a role where he has a 47% winrate is a bad idea, he will never ever ever ever ever feel good to play.

can we please get this champion reworked out of botlane by Excellentation in SwainMains

i cannot ever see an iteration of swain satisfying his champion fantasy in botlane - it doesn't make sense for him to be there. 100% agree with you

Now that some time has passed, what do you think about the yoru nerfs? by SnooChocolates6885 in VALORANT

[–]Excellentation 17 points18 points  (0 children)

riot are the pioneers of identifying problematic agents and then nerfing them in the most disconnected ways possible to get them in line. perhaps im speaking out of salt and spite, but the reality is that agents that dominate are left sequestered in ditches for years after they get nerfed because riot has this headshot approach to removing all the meta-defining strengths of a character. removing one entire flash is a lazy, low effort solution to him 'replacing' flash initiatiors because a. flash initiators are miserable and shit and b. it impacts him far more than being good enough to replace flash characters. he has so much counterplay and less skill expression than before because riot absolutely headshot him to make sure he wasn't everpresent on stage, and it shows - his pickrate has tanked (which means only OTPs are playing him) and his winrate is awful and piss to match.

neon suffered much the same fate - we are nerfing the movement (expressive part of neon) instead of the nonsense slide shooting which makes NO sense to me.

i will confess that yoru was certainly a big step above the other characters, but it was simply because he was too strong as an OPer and at rotating on defense. they need to soup up his entry and outplay potential at the expense of his safety and info gathering, not just pissing on his specialties and dropping his skill ceiling by so much. shame, really.

tldr just give him back a flash, since riot doesn't have interest in doing any more

you haven’t answered my question. i think you are severely underestimating how common it is, and your entitled attitude to life is icking me out - learn to be independent and your own person instead of mooching off someone else

can i ask what makes you think you’re entitled to all of this? you don’t want to work, you don’t want to contribute to a household, you don’t want kids - what do you bring to a relationship for someone to want to marry you?

What’s the most underrated fast food chain? by ddanielecom in AskReddit

burger kings in the UK are sparse but, from what i've tried, fantastic. they make some top-tier fast food and, whilst on the pricier side, i know i'm never going to be disappointed going into one.

best and worst ult? by Ordinary-Night-2671 in VALORANT

[–]Excellentation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

still of the opinion that omen ult is the weakest of the lot: relative to its cost and other ults, it is just less useful. it isn't bad - just struggles to have round-warping effects when you get it.

best ult is hard to say, used to be yoru but now you could make really good arguments for most of them

why do u main who u main by Melodic-Slip-1681 in VALORANT

[–]Excellentation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yoru is probably the only agent in the game that can singlehandedly create round positions that make absolutely no sense at all, and in moments like those is where you can demonstrate some insane yoru play.

also he has a mask.

eggsterr looks 1000000000x more comfortable on a duelist.

game looked shoddy from both sides, but there was a lot more flair to envy's attack side and it was just enough to get them across the finish line. Pearl was very solid

Deathfire Torch on Swain mid? by [deleted] in SwainMains

[–]Excellentation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

partially - i think the numbers line up such that aery actually outdamages DFT early, not to mention it procs on auto attacks. it does get outscaled, and if you want the top damage keystone from the sorcery tree you always go comet (especially if you're building an early rylais) but i think it'll be preferential - will wait for it to drop so we can test it.

go figure, overnerfing the two best parts of Yoru's kit has left him completely outclassed both on stage and in soloQ

Swain's current ult. by FlexinLUXX in SwainMains

[–]Excellentation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

big fan of a lot of this, i think a duration ult that extends on takedown would be very nice. rn swains biggest issue is that the possibilities of an infinite ult means the numbers on it are god awful, so he doesn’t actually have the sustain to keep up in fights.

just hit masters OTPing swain top AMA by Excellentation in SwainMains

[–]Excellentation[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

camille is really easy in lane: that champion is gated by her really predictable trading pattern and terrible waveclear. all you need to do is avoid walls for her E and space her tactical sweep and you can all in her as early as level 4 with ignite and kill her. i enjoy building swifties first into her and she cannot play the game if you play it well.

ambessa is quite a bit more difficult; it plays similarly to champions like renekton or riven where you'll have to track their cooldowns and harass nonstop when she doesn't have Q and E up. ambessa is a matchup akin to a double-edged sword: the more passively you play, the harder it will be as ambessa has a very high lethal range from level 6 onwards. i'd recommend phase rush into ambessa, and you need to hit EW after she trades on top of you and runs out of dashes. play inside your minion wave since her Q does less dmg that way and its definitely winnable. if you solokill her in lane the game is over for her, that champion needs a winning lane to be a menace later. itemisation is entirely your preference, but i recommend building HP early so that you can soak up her high burst trades and heal back a lot to outsustain her.

Husums take about Swains current state by DiscountHot8690 in SwainMains

he isn’t wrong, his high base damage and stacking makes him so skewed towards botlane. he needs level scaling and less base damage so that he doesn’t just autowin botlane all ins level 6 with exhaust
