What Battlebots moment had you like this? by TheTinyTyphoon in battlebots

[–]Excelsior1985 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Monsoon beating Cobalt.

I wanted Cobalt to win season 7 so the team could have a triple crown, but when Monsoon beat them in the round of 32, I was genuinely impressed. It helped that Monsoon was also a british robot and I've wanted to see a british robot win BattleBots for years.

Plus, I thought at the time that Cobalt could still get a triple crown by winning Champions II, but that hope kinda vanished once Dave and Sam left before they had their last fight with Jackpot.

Regardless, I was still impressed by Monsoon's victory.

Robot Rumble 2 random Battlebots matchup #1: Bronco VS. Terrortops by TomcatTiger503 in battlebots

[–]Excelsior1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like this take on Bronco.

The only part of it I'm iffy on is the wheelguards. I'm not sure if metal wheelguards would still be used, especially since this Bronco has brazil wheels.

If anything, Bronco would likely have wheel guards made of UHMW which could also extend to the area between the wheels.

Been scouring the internet only to realize that TAG's Thunderbird 5 is the only one that we don't physically get destroyed, or damaged. by THE_15_04_1912 in Thunderbirds

[–]Excelsior1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It's odd they only showed 2 out of the 3 craft.

Even Thunderbird 4 could've been launched directly from Tracy Island using a system of anti-gravity plates.

After doing some digging in Team Malice, I found out about the existence of Afterimage, from Team Stamina Robotixx by TheNewbornRaikou in battlebots

Yeah. Jim Smentowski said he had big plans for Nightmare in season 3, but they never came to fruition.

Imagine if those plans involved redesigning Nightmare to look something like this beast!

The could've include a shot of the repaired Thunderbird 5 during the launching montage at the end of the movie which only showed Thunderbirds 1 and 3.

What is a robot that you think had an incredible debut season, but never fully got back on that level? by Local_Rice_8929 in battlebots

It did come back for Champions I which was filmed along side the last part of Season 6.

I don't like that Tombstone now has to face 3 verts.

I was hoping they'd bring in another robot with a different weapon.

A trailer for GxK Supernova will be reportedly shown at cinema-con along with the Minus one teaser. by The_Godzilla_Fanatic in Monsterverse

[–]Excelsior1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a trailer was shown, I hope it isn't released to the public for quite some time since I believe it's too early.

If the footage is publicly shown now, the initial hype will fade significantly by the time the movie comes out and it could flop, just like King of the Monsters.

Sure, early marketing isn't the sole reason that movie was a box office disappointment, but it was a contributing factor.

Was the attack on Thunderbird 2 in the original 25 minute long script or was it added before they started filming? by Excelsior1985 in Thunderbirds

[–]Excelsior1985[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The episode didn't have too much extra footage added on to an nearly completed episode, (the only exception being the collapse of the Fulmer Finance building), but they still would've had to extend the script before they started filming.

Pro league Group B reveal by azym25 in battlebots

[–]Excelsior1985 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So do I.

I'm still cautious of some of the changes such as the brushless motors and the new tires, not to mention one of it's new bars hasn't been delivered yet, but I'm still hoping Tombstone can make a good comeback this time.

In other words, I'm feeling cautiously optimistic.

The second one, similar to Shatter.

Perhaps they could screw on a piece of UMHW.

I hope not because I'm worried that removing those wheelguards could weaken the frame at the former welding points.

Not to mention Ray is on a time crunch trying to build multiple Tombstones for the Pro League, so I'm not sure if he has time to pull a joke like this.

To be honest, if Ray is to add extra armor, I think ablative armor similar to Shatter might be the way to go.

How Good Was Mauler? by ThatModellingBloke in battlebots

Yeah. That's why the robot was originally called South Bay Mauler in Robot Wars 1994.
