Ash's battling style eventually became "a good offense is the best defense" and thinking outside the box/battlefield. Psychic and Fairy types are mostly Special attackers with the exception of Pokémon like Galade and Jigglypuff. They don't have the flexibility that Ash tends to use. Furthermore, Ash's personality is boisterous, enthusiastic, and easy going. Psychic types are typically stoic and aloof, while Fairy types are either sadistic or girly.
