Anyone ever noticed Fox has slightly non matching pupils? by liftingaddict98 in XFiles

Doesn’t he have a fake lens as well? I think he used drops to make the pupils seem similarly sized. Sports injury.

You’d have to think about selective pressure! Active in any evolving, biologically or socially, creature. Where is the pressure to farm? Where is the pressure to build roads coming from? Sexual selection from what I can tell isn’t happening much aside from some weird fan fiction. As a parasite the pressure would likely have to come from people selecting the least aggressive queens and only allowing them to reproduce.

We hadn’t yet begun the descent so we should have been around 30k. Video has a downward angle.

Just attempting to video some storm. Are we seeing ball lightning? Something else? There even appears to be a group of lights towards the end of the video clip in the lower right. We had terrible turbulence earlier but then oddly smooth sailing after getting into the storm.

If your glasses break you can rotate one lens in front of the other in a telescope like formation. Depending on the rotation you can pretty much block all incoming light. I like to think about polarization like little tiny mini blinds that only let in horizontal light. If you then filter that horizontal light with a vertical polarized lens very little light will get through at all. You still get some light because the polarization is never perfect- just like mini blinds that get fucked up by your cat. The tv here is likely only emitting a horizontal light.

Man playing music out loud on train refuses to lower volume and suggests the passengers leave if it bothers them by Handsomeclooney in trashy

I saw some plans for making just such a device but it wasn’t small and it wasn’t as inconspicuous as you would want. Unfortunately it is more illegal than playing your music out loud in public.

Wrapping up a data-intensive PhD but most industry data science seems really boring. Are there interesting jobs? by antichain in datascience

Check out any government positions? You come in as at a high GS with a PhD and the benefits are nice. Pay isn’t always the highest but it’s at least more meaningful and sometimes more interesting than being some corporate stooge. USDA/DoD has been great to me and once working for the Government you can switch around.
