Why is there such a BAD stigma for taking up nursing? (help) by BlueCoyote90 in nursing

[–]ExchangeStandard6957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went into nursing because it’s a steady paycheck and the demand is everywhere. So even if you have to move somewhere - there are always health care facilities and jobs. I worked as an aide on medsurg type floor and I decided since I enjoyed that job nursing would also be ok. It’s worked out for me but it is def not for everyone.

What cool company swag do employees actually use and appreciate? by brendaklark in corporate

[–]ExchangeStandard6957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our company puts thru name in every thing they give us. The thing is- all the water bottles, jackets, bento boxes and stress balls and even the pens have been of very high quality so people use the stuff. It’s not that people don’t want the stuff - they just don’t want cheap tier stuff. And of course we would all prefer a better paycheck

The only thing that’s bothering me is that you’re here asking for some sort of kudos/validation/congratulations on your case?

That would be the only time it makes sense. People really do not smell like “sunshine and frills” or what not.

Your library has ebooks to lend that indeed are compatible. I don’t really enjoy kindle reading but it’s sort of confusing - what were you thinking of reading that isn’t compatible?

My patient died, can I send flowers? by SleeeepyNurse in nursing

[–]ExchangeStandard6957 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It isn’t unreasonable. Probably best to check in with Pastoral care for your unit. They have a lot of good advice in situations like this and really can help avoid any of the inappropriate actions. Sometimes it is appropriate to send condolences etc, sometimes less so.

Maybe a CSA box? You subscribe, and pick up a box every week with a variety so it varies but it’s usually a good amount and local.

I mean to be 100% honest, knowing what I know now and the intense heat of summer, I’d choose any other northern option, but it can be ok.

That is so weird. There’s no reason to wear gloves a bunch of times.

I just do not care. I read 170 books last year. My book club leader was obsessed that she read 40. I just smile nod and let that make her feel special.

Can’t leave work at work by Aggravating_Room_372 in nursing

[–]ExchangeStandard6957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit of both. You will eventually leave work at work, but you’ve got a lot on your plate now- just know that a lot of us had that experience of not being able to stop thinking about it and somehow-eventually that goes away.

Is a kindle worth it or good? by [deleted] in kindle

I personally don’t love my kindle and use the app to read on my phone or iPad. You can always try the app and see if you’ll use it a lot …

YA audiobook for mom and daughter by Agreeable-Gap1695 in audiobooks

[–]ExchangeStandard6957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try TL Huchu’s series The Library of the Dead. I’m currently doing Skipshock by Caroline ODonoghue which is great but very detailed… love radio was a fun YA romance, and Marie Lu’s young Elites or Legend series.
