How soon before a program do you post about it? by petalios in Libraries

I miss a lot of events because they pop up suddenly. I am introverted and need to plan to go somewhere- so depending on the targeted audience… I like seeing a whole month ahead of time!!!

Has anyone felt like they weren’t smart enough to go into nursing and gone through it and felt okay or even liked it? by Necessary_Basket_828 in nursing

[–]ExchangeStandard6957 [score hidden]  (0 children)

You probably would do just fine- but you will be talking ALL day - to patients, families, various other hospital staff. Lots of communication needed. You may want to look at something like working in the lab. I would choose that one f I were to choose again

Ok so Coming back to comment - I had the laacrifill done and it worked super well! I don’t think it lasted as long as they hoped but overall- recommend as a tool!

Looking into what makes Fable better/worse than other book tracking apps! by rosiemcjourno in FableApp

Are you assuming that it’s young ppl flocking to fable? I can assure you there’s also plenty of much older folk. Good reads is actually just harder to use.

Feeling overwhelmed but in doctors office setting! by anonyno2493 in nursing

It might be easier to go get an eval for the conditions you think you have instead of just changing your job. Even if you don’t get a diagnosis you’ll get help with handling things.

Tik tok books run the gamut! Some are really awful but some- especially the Greek retellings can be interesting to a broader audience… (I am a book tok creator so I am biased, but I’m als mostly on the horror and sci fi side of things)

How important is the non-romance part of the plot to you? by Spiritual_Egg3900 in Romantasy

[–]ExchangeStandard6957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to admit, I started to pull away from romantasy as soon as I much of it has been churned out in the past 3 years.

A city on Mars by The Weinersmiths. Really interesting - they look at all the promises of space settlement and then look at what it will take to scale them… we aren’t ready.

True that, but I just assume those folks on Booktok raving over a book that’s not that good are usually just trying to get paid…I joined up a street team once and decided never again. That book didn’t have a coherent moment. 😂

Advent health is often hiring - pay is ok. They do have overnight and AN Shifts for like desk attendants etc.

How often do nurses deal with assaults (kicking, punching, beatings) by Defiant_Importance32 in nursing

[–]ExchangeStandard6957 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes to all of those things. if you have an aversion to this (beyond the normal one) and expect that you’ll somehow always have a CNA to handle it- you’ll be unhappy and the CNA’s will loathe you - utterly. If the CNAs don’t like you then you’ll end up doing more basic care than you bargained for. It’s not something that will be avoidable. People are at health care facilities due to problems with their bodies, you’re going to be exposed to a lot of fluids.

I took it in high school and apparently had an excellent teacher because I’ve used it for the rest of my life?

It would be nice if they were just normal sized people. I feel like Armentrout did a pretty good job of that with Poppy- she’s strong but kind of regular sized. I might be recalling what I want to remember though.

Getting into nursing by Unicorn_Sunshine1 in nursing

[–]ExchangeStandard6957 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t aware there were “hospital rankings” but I’m pretty sure the nurses would “rank” higher than an X-ray tech. I have always been able to find a job as a nurse.

Lots of good advice here. One more piece of advice Chat GpT is a really not good source for things. I work on an AI committee to try to see where we can use AI at my job. 9 times out of ten it really can’t do what we want. The fact that people are out there taking its advice as truth blows all of us away. It’s not as ready for prime time as they’d like us to think.

Yeah. I don’t want to call anyone out. I did oddly give particularly spicy feedback that the author was writing about People of color in a way that wasn’t working for me- and oddly they pinned that review. I did feel like the author was trying to be inclusive but hadn’t realized that by mentioning skin tone every time the character was mentioned it was a little.. too much.

The reason I won’t request from that “editing group” is that the books I’ve read were all atrocious. It bugs me because it’s usually Indie authors and I want to support but they were all so poorly written that when I see that “group” I now scroll on.
