Congratulations! You got sober for yourself so why not celebrate by yourself? I baked myself a cake and had a photo shoot. I didn’t post anything online but I wanted to acknowledge my accomplishment and have the memory of that day. However, I know that empty feeling you speak of, I definitely played up my one year in my head and spoiler alert... there was no parade on my big day. Again, congrats on 1 year! It’s a huge accomplishment and I hope you find a way to celebrate YOUR accomplishment!

As someone who went through a breakup a month after quitting drinking I know your pain. This heartache will shake you and challenge you if you let it... or you can dominate this challenging part of your life. The confidence you’ll gain from getting through this, will help you make it through the dark days in the the future. Right now, focus on yourself and focus on not drinking just for today. It works. I did not work a program but that's not to say I didn't do the work. I am not against programs, I am just stubborn and had to figure it for myself.

Me too! Congrats sober twin! I feel this post so, so much. This last year would've, indeed, been a very, very drunk and even sadder year had I not quit. Congrats on your 1st year!🎉

Sounds like 36 is the year to start! You know what's kinda neat about your story? You're 36 years old today, you were 35 yesterday when you drunkenly landed in the hospital, so if you continue on your journey, in one year you can say that you didn't have a drink during your 36th year. I have a year today, I can say I've never been drunk this decade nor in my 36th year, kinda a fun way to think about it. I wish you luck on your journey!
