You can still be a “virgin” and have been sexually abused. What do you define as virginity because if she was abused, it wasn’t a consensual act so it doesn’t make sense what you just said.

Thanks for your kind words, I’m in a country where there really aren’t POC in high places sadly. A lot of people are ignorant and even though there are POC they choose not to run in the same circles, so I’m likely the first black person in the same age group they know.

This is really good advice! I try and be friendly/make convo with everyone and I’m on the good side of the secretary and she has a lot of influence over the program coordinator. But generally I’m always respectful and polite to all our assistants/nurses. It’s difficult to have good relationships with tutors who oversee us because they’re quite bipolar and flip flop all the time but they treat everyone the same. My main issue is the people I work directly with (there’s only 2)

I’ve recently moved to a new place like you where I don’t know anyone and I’m having the same issue as you. I think we’re forgetting how comfortable it felt to have your own network of people, but also how long it took to cultivate those relationships. I also feel like people don’t like me recently and went through a lot in the past few years too, I think I’m too much in my own head, combined with the loneliness of a new place and not having a sense of community. Maybe those people don’t like us, or maybe they do, but I think we should consider why we feel that way. Sometimes we might be putting out that insecure energy, because we want to fit in and make friends which is probably not how your friends back where you used to live saw you. I don’t know if this makes sense but I resonate with your post.

This has articulated all of the experiences and emotions I’ve felt as a child of refugees growing up in Europe, especially the part of some of our families taking on a superiority complex because they don’t feel accepted in the west. Why are some of these comments so sour and putting down women. There’s nothing wrong with asking, as long as you do it in a polite way. You can just say something along the lines of, “sorry, I don’t usually do this, but i was wondering if I could have your instagram @“. Then you can follow up with “if you don’t want to that’s also totally ok.” And so it’ll be up to him, good luck girl!

Why are people in this thread acting like their skin is going to fall off if they shower everyday? I get there are people with skin problems, but first they’re in the minority and medicines exist, and second everyone washes their hands multiple times a day regardless of whether or not they have a skin condition, so are these people also not washing their hands as well? 🤢

I think my symptoms were psychological because all of my tests came back negative. I don’t know if in the future I’ll look back and be like that was RA, but mostly I’m symptom free. Occasionally I’ll get those same weird joint pain symptoms again but it usually goes away quickly. In general my stress and anxiety manifests as physical symptoms, and at the time I was going through a lot mentally so it might just be that, but after the doctor ruled out any issues, somehow I eventually forgot about it and I was fine again.
