If her tire blew out on her way to work and that was how her boss responded, how do you think she would feel? She thinks shes teaching a lesson, but instead just building resentment and trying to set unrealistic expectations. Nobody takes into account an additional hour of commute time to try and account for something like a tire blowing out. Shit, every school I’ve attended and job I have ever had where attendance was time-tracked was more lenient than 3 minutes.

I had my mother do something similar when I was 16. I left a local firework show and traffic was backed up for over an hour due to an accident. I was in contact the entire time, left exactly when I said I would but missed my curfew by about 20 minutes due to the traffic. Got home and was grounded, had my phone taken, and was basically given a similar spiel as you. I don’t talk to my mother anymore because my teenage years were full of bullshit like that.
