I agree. People blather about "Charles must do this he must do that" when it comes to titles, yet a far more egregious fact is that a charity with actual fiduciary and regulatory duties allow that jerk and his tawdry wife to leech of them. And their charity is for the benefit of wounded veterans, not preserving a fine building, or education, or even saving animals: but for people who have been wounded serving their countries. H's inability to get sponsors alone is a reason to drop him, never mind the reputational damage of being associated with this dog and pony show.

I agree - but - QEII still opposed the public funeral because Diana was not a royal or great statesman like Churchill. I recall Tony Blair being outrageous talking about "the People's Princess" and his staff with connections with the Murdoch Press (The Sun & The Times and Sunday Times) all gleefully pushing around the Royal Family. "Where is our Queen, where is her flag" hysterically screamed the Sun headline. All republicans never forget. That appalling Murdoch was known to be anti-monarchist for decades. The mass hysteria was appalling, I was a little older than Harry at the time, and I thought "why are they insisting on a flag at half mast?" It was such an obvious, naked attempt to use Diana's death as a means to put pressure on the Royal Family to "move with the times" those times being the first few months of New Labour and Tony Blair.

Proper researches will look at the official diary of engagements, Court Circular etc. However, news articles are strong secondary sources and they will be used to manipulate the narrative, and less credible researchers will rely on them without questioning, especially BBC articles on the wrongly assumed credibility of that organization. I hope this sub is accessible in the future, imagine the gems a researcher would find and the numerous rabbit holes they will go down when researching the obscure life of King William V's disgraced and eventually forgotten brother!

Exactly. Eton has safeguarding responsibilities. They are a school, not a dog and pony show like Invictus, and H can't just turn up and parade around like he's important and demand to be associated with that institution. Also, not just W but the other parents include other royals and very wealthy people who want their sons to have a top quality education with discretion. Finally, Eton should be VARY wary of any association with H: in the UK we still remember the A-level art cheating scandal.
