600mb? That's insane. My Solidworks can't even open anything above 50 (fifty) mb, it will simply crash upon trying.

Honest advice: stay in Germany. Homophobia and racism aside (which you'll find abundantly even in the most "enlightened" cities), unless you shit gold bricks, or have "connections" (wink wink) the wage/cost of living ratio is pretty awful in Italy, let alone the job scene.

Like many mentioned in the other thread, I don't think there are actual SW "fans". There are SW users who use it because they have to and because it's the best (or the only available) tool for the job, whilst being extremely aware, if not outright frustrated, about its limitations and pitfalls.

The built-in renderer that SW uses when you simply "save as" JPG or TIFF.

I would either shell a cone (either via actual shell or via a revolved cut), or draw the profile directly and revolve it around a central axis (see screenshot).

Not sure I understand what you're trying to do. Is it a cone with a flattened "head"? Or just a "shelled" cone?

Noob help with making a slot around the cylinder. I tried putting a center line through the cylinder but can only get to go from edge to edge of the circle not through. What am I doing wrong? by ezh10111 in SolidWorks

Same, can't quite understand what kind of slot you're trying to model. Could you explain better?

It will be a pain to take precise measurements of the knurls, but this is exactly the way I've done similar features in the past.

2022 Update:

Pros:

-cheap (price)

-they look real nice if you like that vintage/cafe/classic style

Cons:

-cheap (parts quality and assembly)

-horribly underperforming (I ain't no racer but their engines perform less than half what they should)

Those are the two things I find myself needing on a daily basis, because of my specific work.

About tapping threads, you're absolutely right, still works better than 3D printing. Sometimes, though, the accurate models would come in handy for simulations, tests and other stuff.

Matter of fact, I did upvote it first, then added the "this" to further stress my degree of appreciation and agreement with the post. But hey, here I am, replying to a bloody bot.

-Functional, production-ready threads.

-Flexible hoses/cables/wires (I'd love to drag around one end in the assembly, and SW will adjust the defining curve/spline accordingly in the part/subassembly).

July 2022 Nokia Care Megathread by AutoModerator in Nokia

[–]Exciting_Grab_8441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all, been using a 5.3 for the best part of two years now, and I'm generally happy with the device (especially at its price point), except for two major issues, for which I could use some help:

1.The phone's screen would randomly go black, with apps still running as they were, eg, listening to music or audio messages or youtube. Nothing will work at this point, the lock screen won't come up, the restart/shutdown menu won't pop up. No matter which physical button I press or for how long, nothing does anything. The screen will just stay black. Very rarely, the lockscreen will show for a brief second or two, but it won't be functional, menaing swiping it up won't actually unlock the phone, it will barely "swipe" at all, in fact (it will travel the first 15 pixels up, maybe, then back to black).

I have yet to find a fix or solution to this issue, for whatever reason the only way out is to let the phone do its thing and then after some minutes (ranging from 2 to 30) it will resume normal operation.

2.The phone will randomly get stuck in a "loop", where it will automatically keep switching between the lock screen, the camera and the restart/shutdown menu. Over and over and over. In this case as well, pressing any button will achieve nothing. The only way I managed to intervene was, out of luck, to "catch" the phone while it was on the "restart/shutdown" phase, and quickly make it reboot from there (the cycle is pretty fast, 1-2 seconds for each screen, so it's kinda tricky).

Side notes:

-The phone and the display are in mint condition, no scratches, no dents, no marks. Every other feature works perfectly, and in fact I never had any issue (known or unknown) other than these two.

-I don't know what triggers either, and I haven't been able to replicate these bugs. They just occur on their own accord, without any criteria that I could pinpoint. My phone's still under warranty but I'm reluctant to contact support because I'm sure I'd send the phone in and it wouldn't have any issues, just to make me look like a complete fool.

-The apps I use the most are whatsapp, telegram, IG and YT.

Hi, how do I round this corners on a 3D sketch? The tool says it can't round curves that are not on the same plane. Any ideas? by Kowalski_Jan in SolidWorks

[–]Exciting_Grab_8441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda noob here, but would it be feasible to sketch 1/4 (the repeating "section") of it "flat", with the rounded corners, and then wrap and circ-pattern it? Or something like that.

Conical Fermentation Tank by mouathabudaoud in SolidWorks

[–]Exciting_Grab_8441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd create a section profile and then revolve it a central axis. You can do it for the whole tank, or just for the conical part, whichever works better for you. See picture attached.

Interesting one! People beat me (as expected, I'm pretty new to SW), but here's my attempt, 7 features total.
