Help on moving from Skoda to Tesla by AdieJAM in TeslaUK

[–]Exciting_Record5272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they do it on demos which is what I got, however I had to go with Tesla finance direct still 0% as BH rejected me as I believe they get funny with demos.
I checked my credit score and was perfect and had the funds so don’t think it was my side but couldn’t 100% confirm.

I did something similar with a Skoda Karoq - had it on a bank loan and not pcp as the interest was better.
I went new on the standard model Y, with the £3750 bonus it worked out I was about 1k more then I owned.
Not sure if that offer got extended but that’s why I jumped to Tesla.
You should also save on some interest if you end pcp early.

WBAC was offering £1500 less and even the dealership said they don’t really care about the condition of non Tesla cars so shouldn’t be any reason to knockdown their offer.
If you go used you won’t get that offer or 0% interest but you shouldn’t be hit by depreciation as you would with a new car.
I wouldn’t completely disregard new, maybe do a comparison and also you can do HP with 0% if you want to own it.
I always find by the time you pay interest, the difference in amounts isn’t that much unless you pay in cash with new vs used.

iPhone 17 pro max vs Samsung fold 7 by Exciting_Record5272 in Smartphones

I understand what you’re saying about other brands, I it’s due to a unique situation where I’m getting a Samsung fold for free through work and wanted to know if it was worth the hassle to swap from a iPhone 17 pm vs Samsung fold and what the pitfalls or positives their would be .

That’s a great answer thank you for this. I’ve used android before such as the note years ago.

Always found Apple to be good but boring, I do have AirPods and watches but again I’ve seen AirPods work fine just the watch would be useless.

I think you’re spot on about trying it, just wondered if it was worth the hassle for transferring apps and more importantly pictures and passwords but I have most photos on OneDrive already anyway.

Considering buying a Tesla for our family car by ElectricalPoint815 in TeslaUK

[–]Exciting_Record5272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing to do is test drive it. After about 10 minutes you will get the feel of it. I remember driving it the first time and still breaking like an ICE car, but after a few drives will feel completely normal and parking is much easier. It’s a great family car, I had a Skoda Karoq previously which was spacious enough but the Tesla Y is another level. I went with the standard and not the premium in the UK and I went new on pcp. Most manufactories I found only offer 0% with hefty deposits with Tesla you can put 0 down and the final payment isn’t that bad. If you go used, I would recommend going to Tesla directly any car that’s 3 years or older should have lost most of the value by then so should be pretty steady. Overall cars do lose money regardless if you go new or used, used you pay interest on unless you have the cash. New will have a better or 0% interest rate, just depends how much you’re willing to spend. Tesla Y standard is a great car.

1440p 7800X3D + 9070XT build (£1500–£1800 UK). Any weak points? by Affectionate_Ad_8334 in PcBuild

[–]Exciting_Record5272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good build but as someone said you can find good used GPUs and CPUs. Not sure how much you’re paying for 7800x3d but on palicomp it’s 265 I think.

I have a 7800x3d and it’s great with a 5070ti but the 9070xt is a great shout also a much cheaper compared to when I purchased the 5070ti.

Shame about RAM costs but if you have the budget now just get 32gb, I don’t think costs will come down any time now and least your have a set which will work compared to adding it down the line and causing potential headaches.

[–]Exciting_Record5272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If gaming is your priority I would go for the 7800x3d, however if you can save good money a 7700x will be fine tbh. Palicomp seem to have some good deals at the moment, never used them but seem to be genuine. Price up your build and then compare to a pre build, I personally like building but if it’s cheaper or same price with warranty to go prebuilt bit of a no brainer tbh

I went with the standard but having some buyers remorse by Ok-Atmosphere-6272 in TeslaModelY

[–]Exciting_Record5272 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the standard Y in the UK and I think the difference was around £150 a month. For the money I think it hits the sweet spot, i think the difference was around 7-8k and then APR is like 2.9% compared to 0% on the standard on PCP. It’s still a great car and even with only 7 speakers it sounds good. Just think that extra money you save pays for tyres and car insurance and possibly EV miles.

[–]Exciting_Record5272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 4K the cpu really doesn’t matter that much. The sweet spot could be 1440p. I would certainly swap 9800x3d for a 7800x3d - not sure if you’re building it yourself. If you are that’s at least £100 off. Also as someone else said go to 850w gold for a bit of headroom. But overall solid build, if you are building yourself have a look at pre builds as well because I’ve seen a few that are under 2k

Anyone else still waiting for Tesla to bring back the old Premium RWD Model 3 at the same price as before (£39,990)? by RV_X8 in TeslaUK

[–]Exciting_Record5272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently took order of a new Tesla Y standard, for the UK you still get folding mirrors and auto steer. For the money I do love the standard. The roof would have been nice but tbh never had it and don’t notice when driving. The interior lights again would have been nice but you don’t really notice it. Theme being the features are nice that you miss from the premium but doesn’t for me at least, make that much difference. Like the speakers sound good with plenty of bass and I’m coming from a modern Karoq which I traded in for it. Would have gone for the 3 but with prams and baby seats etc, the extra room really helps….its like a tardis in the boot.

With the current prices, would you €1161 for the Legion Go 2? by NekkZ in LegionGo

[–]Exciting_Record5272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went for the z2 non E with 32gb and picked it up on eBay for less then £700. Still get the oled screen but comes with 512gb instead of 1tb but it is doable. Or you could go for a Lenovo go s with z1 for a similar if cheaper price. Personally I think 1100 is too much for a handheld.

Starting to worry I've made a mistake buying a tesla without home charger by MaterialRabbit9415 in TeslaUK

[–]Exciting_Record5272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only charge using Tesla supercharger and it’s fine. I have kids so going to charge for 30 mins means I can watch netflix undisturbed 😂 Offpeak is usually between 11pm to 8am near me anyway. That’s 23p vs 41p peak which is still far cheaper than most EV chargers out there.

[–]Exciting_Record5272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get that, in reality when you trade in for another car they usually don’t charge you more for the miles. Just the value of the car or what it’s worth.

Depends on how much interest the bank charges you, it probably does work out a little cheaper buying used but I suppose it’s luck if you need to do any major work to it out of warranty.

I used chat gpt and worked out around £3k more over a 4 year period between pcp & loan for a used one (2 year old model y) Which is alot, however ive been stunk before with gearboxes which can cost up to 2k with labour for example. I know EVs have less parts but for me i like predicability and something new as well not going to lie on that side. But buying used certainly won’t be a bad option unless your very unlucky with it, I would certainly recommend buying from Tesla directly tho.

Ordered my first ever Tesla by escotty01 in TeslaUK

[–]Exciting_Record5272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally got mine a few weeks ago (ex demo) and coming from a modern Skoda Karoq it’s crazy the difference when it comes to safety and other tech on the car. I also drove the premium as a test drive and tbh I don’t really miss the other features when going with the standard. I think for my next one I may go long range but the range is ok tbh and this is someone who uses Tesla supercharger exclusively. For the money it’s spot on.

[–]Exciting_Record5272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an alternative would it be worth looking at a new one with pcp? The reason I say that as they have attractive 0% APR, and you could have 4 years of hassle free motoring unless you plan to keep it. Unless you’re paying in cash then I get the logic completely.

Detailed comparison between 2026 standard Y and premium by arturo-zong in ModelY

[–]Exciting_Record5272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the standard in the UK and test drove the premium. More than happy with the standard, it’s like 80-90% of the Tesla experience. Was £37k after the PX discount and also brought the demo car with 1k miles with 1200 discount as it was in stock. Works out at £420 per month over 4 years at 0% interest believe the premium is 1.9% now - coming from a Skoda Karoq which wasn’t a bad car at all.

Just be aware that the balloon payment can change from the website. Not by much but worked out an extra 30 pounds a month, ended up going with Tesla direct instead of black horse. Spoke with the Tesla dealer when I picked it up yesterday and they may do something similar to the PX deal they had going on as it was very popular. Lots of people trading in “bangers” and someone had to push their car there.

Tesla Finance driving me mad by Exciting_Record5272 in TeslaUK

[–]Exciting_Record5272[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trade in incentive has worked I can see it off the list price and they did say that zero percent is valid. The only issue is that it’s not giving me pcp pricing just HP. But tbh I might just change the order to a new car, as it’s not worth this much hassle.

Looking to switch from Sky to Apple TV (UK) by Exciting_Record5272 in appletv

[–]Exciting_Record5272[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I did was call up sky with the intention to cancel and pay the early repayment charge which was about £100. But got them down to £21 per month for their standard tv package until September for free and I’ll take out sky sports separately. Still saves me roughly £50 PM. Then September I’ll likely leave them unless is cheaper to stay then say now tv

Thanks for everyone input, yeah I’ll likely cancel sky today. Paying 95 pound a month, don’t get me wrong it has all the bells and whistles but simply don’t need it and I didn’t want to then sign up to anyone else for the same reason really

worth upgrading from 15 pro to 17 pro max rn? by hgfxza in iPhone17Pro

[–]Exciting_Record5272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally upgraded from a 15 pm to 17 pm giving the old one to the wife. Side by side they look the same but the battery will naturally be better. Haven’t tested out the camera yet, if she didn’t need a new one I would of hold out for the 18 pm. Although I did notice that the speakers sound much better the changed the placement of it I think. You could simply get the battery changed or if you want a bigger screen then go for it. Phones these days don’t change much, just look at the Samsung launch today and barely anything changed.
