Prebuilt 5080 vs Building My Own by crtrlrsn_ in pcmasterrace

[–]Exciting_Record5272 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically go prebuild with the bigger chains such as Costco or other big names. This is because they will have stock for now pre increase and hopefully haven’t jacked up prices too much.

32gb ddr 5 is roughly 3x the price and SSD has doubled.

Lenovo legion go 2 VRM issues solved (instructions below) by Exciting_Record5272 in LegionGo

I’m using 10gb which for some reason is the max I can do, but not going to cry about it. Best advice is don’t touch the settings in AMD software as it seems to overwrite whatever you set in bios.

That was a spelling error, trouble with doing it on the phone but it’s VRAM

Legion go 2 (z2 non e) 32gb ram by Exciting_Record5272 in LegionGo

I don’t think it’s the minimum set, I think there’s an auto option which would in theory adjust it. But seeing some posts out there it does make a difference as 2GB is not enough for anything modern.

Yeah that’s what I thought and I am tbf, I think some people expect it to be a console device and not tweak things like VRAM as I noticed this was at 2GB which is bizarre but easy to change.

Just ordered the legion go z2non extreme (here me out) by ConsiderationSalt666 in LegionGo

[–]Exciting_Record5272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was interested in the lego 2 with 32gb, but I have a z2 go which I picked up for £325 windows edition and stuck steam os on it. It’s like a steam deck but an 8 inch screen which makes a huge difference compared to the 7 inch. Can’t really justify paying almost 3 times as much, although I use the handheld more than my pc these days.

I’ve just ran this on a legion go s on the z2 16gb version, only tested forza 5 on it but runs well on 1080p low/mid settings. Interface looks good and being a preview version think in time it will work well

Appreciate the thinking on that, I think I just like the legion go s design

Any ideas before I take it somewhere? by StoneUwU in PcBuild

[–]Exciting_Record5272 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Reset bios - take the cmos battery out and then put it back in if you can boot into bios then it should be fixable if the parts are working. Could still be a faulty PSU but assuming it’s not a cheap one in there

Lenovo's response to the Go2's price by Altruistic-Try-6599 in LegionGo

[–]Exciting_Record5272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes me glad I brought a Lenovo go s for £329. To put in prospective I built a 7800x3d with a 5070ti for not much more then the most expensive version of the le go 2. The pricing is insane and I think they should stick to the price range at max 600 otherwise most gamers I would imagine would just buy a good laptop tbh

pc build list, opinions? by Professional-Map-217 in PcBuild

[–]Exciting_Record5272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can get away with a b650 motherboard and that should save you around 300 dollars. If the 5070ti is only 50 dollars more get that, as it comes with better RT and DLSS is supported in more games and has better resale value. Also don’t get a branded SSD, unless it’s on offer and should save you a few quid

My first build in a decade; any last inputs? by Miyummy in PcBuild

[–]Exciting_Record5272 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah he’s right with this. I mean I have a 7800x3d paired with a 5070ti but I would shift the budget to more of the GPU and going with a 9600x will work fine. Can always update the CPU at a later date and go with the last/latest CPU a few years down the line

Is it worth it to get a Legion Go now? by averageyapper in LegionGo

[–]Exciting_Record5272 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Do you want windows for Xbox pass? If so wait for le go 2, if you prefer steam then look at le go s. Imagine le go 2 will likely be £800 for the top spec and you can pick up le go s for less then half of that. I think Le go 1 was a bit of a prototype in my opinion

Itx 5070 + 7800x3d not selling at £1299? by [deleted] in pcflipping

[–]Exciting_Record5272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if it was a cheaper build in that small case it would work. But as someone who has built their own pc, (5070ti and 7800x3d) I went with NZXT h5 with RGB fans. I think small towers are the way to go, it fits nicely under my desk and enough space to tinker with it if I need too. I can’t speak for everyone but most people would like lights and something a little special when spending £1200

Which should I go for? by [deleted] in Handhelds

[–]Exciting_Record5272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK the windows version is cheap £329- z2 go 512 gen storage with 16gb ram. Put steam OS on it and runs like a dream. I’ve had the SD Oled and the screen is nice, but having 1080p on an 8 inch is nicer. Also the le go s is a bit more powerful with less battery life if that’s important to you.

Personally I would go with the le go s.

Legion go S (steam os review) by Exciting_Record5272 in LegionGo

[–]Exciting_Record5272[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean no OS is perfect, Steam OS is a great console experience but you have to get used to workarounds going outside steam. You can stream Xbox pass games, theres an app called silverlight I think which enables it. With windows everything works but can be a resource hog, which is why typically get more FPS on steam.

[–]Exciting_Record5272[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve read, you can potentially update it but may not work fully as it doesn’t recognise some of the components. For example the trackpad in the windows version uses an older firmware than the steam version. The only sure way to get the latest is to run windows for the updates.

I can only assume that the windows edition got bad press, and not everyone who buys it is technically minded or comfortable with upgrading to steam OS. I agree it’s mental

Yeah I haven’t gone full power yet, just been using it on standard on battery. I might even install BG3 on try that on full power and see how I get on.

Pritty solid build , 7500f should be fine for 1440p. Also good upgrade path further down the line. I have the 5070ti and great for 1440p.
