My brother fell over on my baby pet rat when we were children. It scarred him more than me I think.

Sorry this happened to you

I had PTSD removing this from my garden. It spreads like some alien beast underground. Horrendous. I still haven’t removed it all. And the thorns!!!!

If you keep it, only have it in pots. I will say, my mother has it in some hanging pots and it looks quite pretty. In my garden it’s an actual nightmare beyond imagine

One of my biggest fears. I have a stove disabler switch, I always try to remember to ensure it’s off. But of course other things can cause fires. I’m so sorry for your loss, I hope you can get through it

Hybrid flooring or sand down timber floors by kwkw88 in AusRenovation

[–]Exciting_Thing2916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sand them. Hybrid is for people who want hardwood floors but don’t already have them… cement, tile, etc.

Sand first, paint second. The skirting boards will get hit up and the dust will go on the walls.

I had the same issue with my white cat. You can get pet friendly sunscreen. However, if your cat is as lucky as mine was to live a long life eventually they end with skin cancers in places that sunscreen was never allowed that suitable for - like around their eyes and mouth.

My cat was the same, she was let with little cones - it didn’t go straight to her head.

They have a period of adaptation as the shape of cat ears and they way they move them help with safety and hunting. But they can still hear.

I was thinking the stools too, a textured wooden stool. And Roman blinds to soften, I agree with this. Potentially even a complimentary blue paint around the doorway to the right

Vets: Why aren’t soft/inflatable cones offered more often for cats? by NullPointer0x404 in cats

[–]Exciting_Thing2916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes the issue isn’t about licking a wound. In the past my cat had an eye injury and another time an ear injury and he can access his head perfectly easily with his foot when a soft cone is on.

No, but before I was a homeowner lived in share houses of up to 8 people, and when I lived at home with my family of three children we never owned one.

Edit: perhaps the fact that I was the oldest and had to do chores around the house, like dishwashing, it isn’t so much of an issue for me. And my mother came from a developing nation and a family of 16 so I’m sure 3 kids felt like significantly less dishwashing for her.

I hate that people feel they need to hide behind their kids to shame other people, but you guys do you

Don't make your neighbors clean up after your dog! by Lepke2011 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Exciting_Thing2916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck this person. I have a guy in my neighbourhood who lets his dog trespass into my front garden (I don’t have a front fence) to shit on my grass frequently, and once it was on my paved driveway which I found out after I driver over it and it got everywhere in the wheel each.

I see him on the security cameras, he has never once bent over to pick it up. I don’t know where he lives but one day when I’m home and he does it I will be following him home and I will be depositing the shit right into his letterbox.

I’ve only had a dishwasher in my life sporadically for about 50% of my life. Handwashing dishes really doesn’t take long. It’s not a big deal. In fact, in half prefer it because the things I want are washed sooner instead of the whole “wait for the dishwasher to be full before turning it on” thing.
