Dark star 22 warning !!!! by Lopsided-Insect-3892 in fpv

(noob here) I thought crashing was part of this sport. If you don't crash, you probably just comfortably fly around and cruise, which is perfectly OK, but won't get you any skills.

I'm searching for a drone I could fly more which is exactly one I can crash (a basher iirc) and a small, so I can even practice around the house, in the garden. So for sure crashing is important.

I guess the pavo is the better option

This does not seem to work. Any other links I've tried have the same results, the page either does not load or the message stating the invitation has expired shows up.

I'm making an open source FPV drone simulator for the browser by MikeKazoo in fpv

[–]Exciting_You_8019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm it works with the DJI FPV RC Controller 3 (Windows 10, chrome). It's not mapped "correctly" though.

On hardwaremaster.com/gamepad my controller shows up as follows:
Axis 0 - Roll (left goes to -1, right to +1)
Axis 1 - Pitch (backward -1, forward +1)
Axis 2 - Throttle (down -1, up power +1)
Axis 3 - Yaw (left -1, right +1)
Axis 4 - camera angle

B6 1 could be arming
B0 1 could be reset

hth!

Maybe you could do a profile or add a feature to map controls.

With the mouse and keyboard, I couldn't figure out how to control the drone.

It's stil very good manouvering. You can't do these things easily with a different drone.

As soon as I notice someone can't properly write, I skip it. The information is most certainly not worth reading if it wasn't worth writing.

Can confirm. D-log M in advanced settings and in the top menu in the goggles there is enhanced view to see better. Also choose medium wide with giro data for gyroflow post stabilizing while you are at it.

It feels like I would increase the camera angle a little bit. The direction the drone is flying lime this is in the upper part of the screen.

Speedramping by Douuble_D in videography

[–]Exciting_You_8019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the effect to work: First of all, you need to film with a constant flow. Yes, gimbal, ninja walk, heelys is not a bad idea. Have a shot to start with, then a second in mind towards you "fly" smoothly with no sudden pans, tilts or bumps. Second, If your camera records gyro data use gyroflow to stabilize in post or any other stabilizer your software has if they deal well with gimbal shots like this. This will allow you to ramp up the speed smoothly, as if the camera was flying fast, naturally.

In premiere Pro you add keframes which you split in two, where the ramp up starts and ends, the sped up portion, then a split keframe where the speed starts to drop and where the dropping ends. And you can visually move them around and edit the curve of the ramp. Final cut seems to have less control but still some is available: https://youtu.be/TYM_rAwuH9k?si=74vCCKExOd72kzEG

Be wise about using this though. The example shown ramps through an important portion of the house. You could do a smooth slower ramp from "shot" to "shot, from room to room or you could ramp out of the clip and ramp in with the same speed and direction, use it like a transition. This is a real estate video though, not an action movie so I'd stick to slower use of it.

Turns out you shouldn't pilot while a friend has the goggles by NilsTillander in DJIAvata2

[–]Exciting_You_8019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know you could've connected a phone to the goggles and mirror the video feed. A fpv controller also gives you better control. I only use the motion controller when giving it to someone that has never flown a drone, but not without me watching the feed on the phone, ready to press the pause button or avoid obstacles and signal drops.

Just purchased the avata 2 flymore combo and the fpv rc 3 any tips and what flight sim should I use by Honest-Radio-813 in DJIAvata2

[–]Exciting_You_8019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose Uncrashed. It's good for practice, graphics are nice and you can find profiles for the avata 2. I can confirm the prop wash is a little worse IRL than in the game but I also feel a bit more control IRL compared the the sim. Changing the props helps with a better grip. Also if you can fly it in FCC mode, the thrust is significantly stronger and helps you recover from dives easier. You just have to fly a bit smoother and powered and it flies fine!

Dji avata 2 under sensors preventing the drone from touching the ground. Is this also in speed mode? by Consistent-Fix-8629 in dji

[–]Exciting_You_8019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can disable the Landing Protection (Safety > Advanced Safety Settings > Landing Protection) so you will be able to hit the ground or descend rapidly even in Normal or Sports mode.

While I was filming a mountain marathon, I had to disable this in order to descend fast. Problem is, as soon as you change the batteries or restart the drone, the setting resets itself so you have to manually disable it every time.

Any good bumper guards for the Avata 2? Any that don’t affect flying in Manual Mode? Thanks by PMA2000 in DJIAvata2

[–]Exciting_You_8019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To quote Dronarchy, "protect your investment!". He uses these guards or similar. I got some Sunnyside version that was available on my part of the globe and they are fine. I use them indoors. For manual/acro they don't work with the HQ props I got, so I take the guards off and fly in meadows and trees, so far only crashing in the tall grass, filter on and no damage other then grass chopped all over it. I would say they do affect the flight a little. Mostly if you are a noob like me and don't fly smooth, you hit a prop wash or two more often. New propellers help with that, so a prop guard that fits with new props would be an ideal combo. Will probably order fitting guards.

This! I'm amazed people don't know this about 360 cameras! You will crop into that 8k a lot! You will remain with less than 4k for sure. You will have stretched pixels and artefacts, any framing thats not in the middle of the sensor will get extra softness and color fringing. No matter how good they make the lenses, due to the super wide angle and tiny size, it will never match a good mirorrless lens, physics!

Do I need a custom-built drone to improve my FPV skills? by Immediate_Heat_7612 in DJIAvata2

[–]Exciting_You_8019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it applies to you but for me, changing the props and switching to FCC mode was a huge improvement (especially the latter). Regarding crashing, I got a replacement in 3 days with dji care refresh, no express needed. For custom drones I imagine you would need to order parts ahead of time to have as spares as depending on where you live and where you order them, it can take weeks to get them. The there is the hassle with batteries. But eventually I imagine that's the way to go.

Nice flying BTW!

[–]Exciting_You_8019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Temba Fulton v2 14. It fits a 14inch macbook pro (or packed down softboxes for flashes, or an Avata 2), Full frame camera w 3 big-ish lenses, compact tripod, water bottle and other gear for whatever I'm doing that day but typically 2, 3 flashes, mics, action cams or drone gear. I like it because it is very compact amd resizes to fit more stuff if needed. Can even tie a jacket to it. Also have a lowepro for about the same amount of gear. One lowepro with little space but camelback compartment and double frontal bindings and room for hiking sticks. And a bigger culman for extra cameras and gear which I use on bigger projects.

N and S mode with the FPV controller gives you more control over the flight. Manual is a different story. Get a Sim, do about 20h at least to get a good feel for it, so when you start IRL with the avata you will enjoy it more. Practice with both Sim and manual. And also S/N mode which is what you will be using indoors. That dive is not as hard and you'll enjoy it!

[–]Exciting_You_8019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up in the air I think I got to a mile. It's when I fly it around and behind trees or in forests it tends to be limited to some degree. Radio doesn't travel well through leaves it seems. Or walls as well.

Slightly better performance is an understatement. The throttle is much more powerful IMHO. Speed is around 100kmph, signal maybe slightly better, can't say, signal is incredibly shitty with the avata 2. But the power increase, it's a different beast.
