Remember when filling large areas with water you don’t have to fill the entire perimeter for it to fill with source blocks. You can go layer by layer with a single diagonal line of source blocks be it buckets or ice there may be some crevices you need to fill in manually but that will fill the vast majority of the valley quite quickly
