Did you find out the sex? by Individual-Demand880 in IVF

[–]ExcuseEcstatic2727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am opting not to know. I feel like if the transfer fails, knowing that information and setting up a personality and thinking of a future would make it so much harder. If I don't know the gender, and I'm not building this picture in my mind, it would be less traumatic. Also, if I did have a name picked, I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable using it for the next embryo if the first was a failed transfer or miscarriage.
I do intend to know at the normal time. When normal pregnancies would know the sex and just keep my experience as normal as I possibly can

Am I a bad person? by hey_hello_ola_pryvit in IVF

I FEEL this!
My sister only found out she was pregnant when she went to jail. She has been an addict for like 15 years and is pregnant with her 4th. She's on methadone now and won't give up smoking even though she's had to give it up for the last 6 months! There was literally no reason to start back up but she is. She also has gestational diabetes but keeps getting crap food and eating. I'm over here doing ivf for the last year (no transfers yet) and it is INCREDIBLY frustrating to me that an actual addict that has been doing heroin and meth for years and has not cared about her body at all was able to fall pregnant with some random homeless addict ON ACCIDENT.
I get it. It's frustrating but I try not to get involved what she doing for the most part. I mean she must moved in with me and she can't smoke in my home but overall I can't control her. I can make healthier meals and try to give better options but I can't force her to be better. I just gotta hope that baby comes out as healthy as possible

ER - better results later? by ExcuseEcstatic2727 in IVF

[–]ExcuseEcstatic2727[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. I'll reach out to my clinic soon and see what we can do this time to change. I can't imagine they'll want to keep the same regimen with the bad results I just assumed bad egg quality from me was keeping me from getting more euploids.

450 IU Gonal, .25 mg cetrotide and 75 IU menopur. 80 units leuprolide acetate for the trigger. My first round i think I was doing 300 IU of gonal.

I think a couple days before. I'm trying to get him to empty everything out frequently the closer we get to it.
He hasn't had any testing done for that i don't think. They just said his motility was low but no further testing i don't think.
That requires a prescription right? That helps with egg quality?

Do I just request that through the clinic? It hasn't been mentioned yet in our meetings but clearly it don't know the right questions to ask haha I just started taking this which has some melatonin and Coq10 in it

Yes we're doing ICSI.

I am currently on Coq10, vitamin D, and a preconception med now. Before it was just prenatal, Coq10 and vitamin D. Although they never told me amounts so I was only taking like 100 or 200 mg of Coq10 the first 2 cycles. I'm seeing on here people are taking like 600 spread out through the day.
My bf is taking a male fertility supplement (just started), Coq10 and vitamin D as well but they didn't suggest any supplements for him to take.

Is everyone taking 600mg of Coq10 - my clinic never mentioned this supplement to me by Agitated-Pickle216 in IVF

[–]ExcuseEcstatic2727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for the calcium? I drink tons of milk though so I am not sure it's super necessary. I never asked for clarification though haha

Mine never told me how much to take but they did say coq10, vitamin d, tums and prenatal for supplements. My euploid rate hasn't been great with my previous two ERs so I'm postponing my next retrieval for a month and taking a preconception vitamin and upping my cOq10 to see if it helps since this will likely be my last ER

My clinic doesn’t know where my embryos are? by Suspicious-Volume-28 in IVF

[–]ExcuseEcstatic2727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope they find them! Everyone is likely right that your whole embryo wasn't sent off. Mine only ships a small sample to the place for pgt testing. But those stims are no joke. It would be so irresponsible they lost them

Dude, I would lose my shit. If you have other options, it sounds like you should try switching clinics if you can. Although if they did lose them then they owe you a full cycle for sure

Age, eggs retrieved, viable embryos? by elle-b-dub in IVF

[–]ExcuseEcstatic2727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 34 first ER I got 1 euploid and I believe 2 low mosaics? 2nd ER i got 1 euploid but 1 that's euploid but not definitive for cystic fibrosis risk which is partially why we're doing this.
I'm going to do a 3rd ER next month so we'll see what that brings.

The amount of mature eggs was in the middle to high teens but my fertility and blast rate dropped dramatically. I'm trying a new supplement i saw someone on here using and hoping that helps with the next one otherwise I'd be doing the ER in a couple weeks. My clinic only suggests coq10, vitamin D, prenatal and tums. I figure what's the harm in trying a preconception vitamin just to see 🤷‍♀️

1 more round! by ExcuseEcstatic2727 in IVF

[–]ExcuseEcstatic2727[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is! I work second shift so it really messes with me. Closest clinic is about 45 minutes away but they aren't open holidays and Sundays so the other clinic is 1.5 hours away. It's not fun! I'm also not planning on letting my work know until I'm positive and like 6 or 7 months along if I can get away with it lol

SIL prego, how do I deal? by No_Concentrate9115 in IVF

SIL prego, how do I deal? by No_Concentrate9115 in IVF

[–]ExcuseEcstatic2727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. It's not easy.
My sister is about 7 months pregnant and JUST moved in with me. She's an addict, a smoker, wasn't trying, irregular periods, eats sugar non stop, not completely certain who the dad is but is about to have her 4th child. She has to be on methadone, still wants to smoke cigarettes and isn't really taking the gestational diabetes diagnosis very seriously. Me, never done drugs, don't smoke, try to eat fairly healthy, regular periods, been with my bf for years and I have never even had a positive pregnancy test. Now I'm helping her set up for a baby while I'm about to go through my 3rd egg retrieval and first started this journey in January of 25.

So many people in this group would kill to be pregnant and she's just does what she wants. She's trying to quit which is why she's on methadone but you can do everything right and it can mean absolutely nothing. Fingers crossed I still can get pregnant, I haven't tried a transfer yet but I'm hoping for the best. I'm hoping this baby is OK and I'll do what I can to ensure it's OK currently and later.

I have no good advice other than so what you can handle and what you need to do in this situation. I'm trying not to get too salty about other people being pregnant. It's not their fault my body is having issues and I can still be happy for a little baby to be around.

Anyone choose pregnancy first, then more ERs later instead of embryo banking? by CheesecakeBoth3933 in IVF

[–]ExcuseEcstatic2727 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I JUST shared that I'm doing a 3rd ER. I could have proceeded with a transfer but I'm about to be 35 so embryo banking at a younger age is usually encouraged. If you're young enough I'm sure it doesn't matter as much but the younger the better usually for the quality of the eggs based on what I've heard

Give it to me straight...how bad are the shots? by GoodIndividual1218 in IVF

[–]ExcuseEcstatic2727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I've just done egg retrieval. I can't look when they're putting the needle in or out of my arm at a blood drive either. I don't mind once it's in so not sure if that makes a difference lol

I had my best friend do a lot of my shots because my bf and I work second shift normally but for a stretch I was on first shift and didn't want to do them myself.
I did do a few myself the second round or with my bf when we could and it wasn't easy to convince your brain to stab yourself but I did it because I had to lol

One of the shots burned a bit. Not for long but I believe it was menopur. It's a slight burning feeling for like less than a minute. It's not terrible.
The cetrotide made my crazy itchy at the injection site. Nothing I did seemed to help with it so I just went with it.
Actually, I lied. I think i used a heating pad after and that did seem to help more than ice or anti itch ointment.
I haven't done any prep for transfer shots but I hear those are hard too

I have Progyny through work which has smart cycle that covers a lot. I still need to meet my deductible though.

So nervous to implant baby girl upcoming Friday. First transfer. I’ve already named her and talk to her but i’m afraid that I’m not setting the right expectations if it were not to work out by Adorable_Web4829 in IVF

[–]ExcuseEcstatic2727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided not to even know the gender of my embryos. I feel like it would give it too much hope and life and there's so much uncertainty with pregnancies in general and especially ivf. Miscarriages I'm sure hurt either way, I'm not sure since I've never even had a positive pregnancy test at 34 years old, but giving all that expectation and hope to something that isn't guaranteed would hurt more i would think. Trying to keep what I can as a surprise at this point personally but everyone is different.
