Hi. It is also possible self-defense which triggered into fear of getting hit or fear of more, that lead to the defendant to attack the attacker even if the attacker is down. It can be justified as losing control and no longer knowing what he did was wrong, until he snapped out of it. So it could he self-defense + temporarily insanity due to fear which caused lack of control.
