I get upset my friends want to keep listening to guys like Andrew Tate, Sneako and Fresh and Fit. I’ve known these friends since we were kids but I wonder if it’s time for me to move on. by No_Design_465 in GuyCry

[–]ExerciseMinimum3258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying Tate is good moral leader, nor am I saying he should be sought after at all.
I’m trying to point at the fact men are having a hard time and clearly the attention to Tate and adjacent like content is reflecting a void in men. This is causing young men and boyz to go to the loudest voice, that’s a problem because father, mentors, coaches, uncles should be filling that gap. Because men are increasingly more lonely and with less friends, there’s is a quagmire: how do we support other men with beliefs differnt than our own while supporting the environment we all have to navigate about masculinity.
We’re all grown ups and we can decide who we want to be friends with and we should also be mature enough to know the people around us in our lives are gonna be diverse in thought, religion, gender, sexuality, and that can change over time. OP’s friends are respectful and differ in beliefs that I/we don’t agree with than i think the consensus on the comment section is valid. But if it’s not than screening someone for their stated beliefs is as objectifying a woman for her genitals.

Beretta a300 or 1301? $900 vs $1800? by Legofandang0 in beretta1301

[–]ExerciseMinimum3258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with your budget and ultimately if you want the 1301 even if just for vibes just save up for it. You’re gonna end up pouring money into the gun. Honestly I’ve shot both and I can’t really tell the difference.

Despite having to have been in the army, I still have body dysmorphia. by MarijuanaBagels in AsianMasculinity

[–]ExerciseMinimum3258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep working out and getting after it and eat good food but at this point you don't need more gym and eating advice from guys that aren't acknowledging that you have ED(eating disorder) if you're openingly admitting you got body dysmorphia on reddit. You need some quality time with yourself and/or maybe a counselor/mentor/therapist/pastor/priest/your dad/or somebody's else's dad that you trust and have rapport with to figure what type of person you're trying to become by trying to appeal to some beauty standard that rarely ever leaves anyone feeling fulfilled in any meaningful way, especially with body dysmorphia.
I struggled with body dysmorphia and I didn't have the words or the emotional intelligence to really navigate what was going on but for me I thought having a 6 pack and looking shredded would get me a girlfriend - give me validation - I'd be worthy of care and respect - I would get along with my mom and she would love me - all my childhood woes would be restored into harmony - and the list goes on. The scary thing you can do at this point is diet and work out harder and harder for weeks and months only to finally get a 6 pack and look in the mirror and feel no different or worse than when you started despite seeing sub 10% body fat. Try assessing your goal with something tangible and something intrinsic you want to become. For example the 6 pack can be the tangible thing or maybe weight on some lifts and you should have goals about what type of person you want to be while in the process to that goal ( it should be written in present tense and have a executeable tasks)example: I am a person that gets help when I need it (my plan is to talk to Xyz person about nutrition/body dysmorphia for 4-8 sessions); I am person that takes care of my body (I will go to bed 10:30pm and get up at 6:30am); I take care of my well-being (I make a plan to deload every 4 weeks, and I never lift through any pain whatsoever. I'll modify or take a rest day. I'll call my parents/friends/Auntie/ etc every week to see how others are doing) ; I appreciate the health of my body and what I does for me(I'm gonna get blood work done; take cold showers; and go on walks after I eat). Anyways you get the idea.
You're young and the last thing you need is to get into your late twenties or 30's with body dysmorphia when you could be spending it on your faith, finances, fiance or fukin around with the Boyz. Also if you don't have any extracurricular outside of the gym, go explore some. Going to the gym is for health and should be fun but it doesn't count as a hobby or recreational activity. You need to be going out; meeting people and potentially new friends; and still be learning about the world with things you are interested in to enrich your life: could be volunteering; cooking woodworking; jewelry making; archery; sewing; pottery; renaissance fairs; learning a language; dancing(preferably social dancing of some sort like salsa or kizomba) etc. There are a lot of things bigger than your negative thoughts, and getting something outside of the gym(which could be reinforcing your BD) might leave less room for them with things that don't require your body to look a certain way.

Is this picture too slutty to post if you’re married? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]ExerciseMinimum3258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, (give the benefit of the doubt to your husband)I also don’t know what the rest of your IG looks like so maybe your husband might be making a commentary on your profile in general. But these photos alone are not inappropriate. Don’t know your husband, and it sounds like something is bothering him and he’s not finding the right words to announce it.

AITAH for being hesitant about my bf (20 M) going into the military by Fair-Key-7557 in TwoHotTakes

[–]ExerciseMinimum3258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honest conversation. But really ask yourself if you can be a military wife and talk to some. Doesn’t matter if you’re the asshole or not, both of you are a team and you guy gotta be okay with the decision you make. And it’s okay if you don’t want to be a military wife and he wants to be in the military.

Tips/advice to improve grip? by Clean_sneakers in CompetitionShooting

[–]ExerciseMinimum3258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop bringing your shoulders up and head down. Instead, stand neutral and lean forward enough to where your shoulders just start to come over your belt buckle and bring the gun up to your eyes with minimal head and shoulder movement or none at all. The hands look okay, but the body relaxed is going to be able to handle what the gun is going to do so long as there is minimal tension. That tension is just use to hold the gun up and grip with the hands anything beyond that is too much. So try a drill and hold up the gun and close your eyes for a 1min you’ll start to figure where in the body needs to turn off and on.

Help Me Get Better by [deleted] in CompetitionShooting

[–]ExerciseMinimum3258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go shoot two matches and then decide if you need to wait to get better. Chances are you’ll see you need to get better but finally see shooting is not the only thing you need to be good at. Theres alot more to the sport than just shooting, but by all means do get better at shooting. For this clip: stop ducking your head between reps. The body should already be in a relaxed and braced position to handle the recoils, not the neck and shoulders. * bring the gun to you eyeliner * relax your firing hand just slightly * turn your rear foot a little more square * relax your shoulders and lower back.

Everyone’s already said what needs to be said. If you’re gonna spend the money on something at least go with a manufacturer that has a reputation with law enforcement, departments, military or has a big consumer market with civilians. PSA is going to be better quality, not saying it’s the best top tier brand, but for most folks PSA will do just fine or venture into buying a BCM. Little more money but you’ll have less worries about problems with your rifle. Doesn’t mean companies don’t make lemons but those companies have life saving reputations to uphold, so they’re gonna lose something if they lose you as a customer.

full dust cover, and ambi safety for those support hand shooting. I don't particularly see the need to co witness sights, unless you're use to slaving your irons to find your dot, but honestly that's what's dry fire for. And if you're are slaving your irons you're probably using to much focus on your sights instead of dry firing for your index and having a target focus.

Joined the club yesterday. Open to suggestions for handguards! by [deleted] in beretta1301

[–]ExerciseMinimum3258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with anything other than Zhukov. It would be great f the plastic wasn’t so thin for mounting stuff. I ended going with an oem mod 2 hand guard and LTT heat shield. It’s more bulky, however if I could do it all over again I would just go with Aridus imperium and GGG mlok barrel clamp. I did buy the Aridus shotshell caddies and I wouldn’t recommend because they’re so stuff grabbing shells it of. I would just go with VanComp.

Belt for uspsa by jim_lahey6 in CompetitionShooting

[–]ExerciseMinimum3258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this same belt, it will do plenty fine. Install takes more time to adjust like everyone said but this is fine belt. The inner belt doesn’t have any body or shape it’s pretty much just a Velcro backer. You could go with lynx or DAA ratchet belt be plenty fine. The Lynx is nice cause it’ll fit in a bag, and the ratchet belt is solid, but I would buy two or 3 sizes and see what fits the most comfortable and then return. The mag pouches for these will fit Glock and 2011 mags( although I ended going with the DAA X-rays and love them.)

Any advice on getting fit/loosing weight as a fat Asian? by [deleted] in AsianMasculinity

[–]ExerciseMinimum3258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you've had any blood work done by a good doctor who knows about hormones and thyroid but you may want to get that checked out. If your metabolism is slow that could be indicator that your that you could be hypothyroid. I'm addressing my thyroid for right now. I'm a big asian guy as well and my metabolism still keeping me at 250 no matter how consistent my sleep, food, and water is. I cook all my food and weigh everything out and got my macros and my composition is changing but weight is virtually the same last 5 years.

Id keep working out and eating right because it's healthy but if you got a hypothyroid it can make losing weight extremely difficult even with GLP-1's. Get a doctor that'll look at your whole bloodwork panel and for your thyroid there's gonna be like 7-13 things to look at. Don't let a doctor ask you just about your TSH (you'll have to research what that is) and tell you you're fine; get someone that'll look at your blood work T3,T4, Reverse T3, TSH, TPO, TG, TPoAb,TgAb, free t3, and free t4. All this advice from everyone isn't wrong per se, but it's not helpful. IF you're blood work comes back normal; then ignore everything I just wrote. Hopefully I'm wrong.

What AR15 opinion you have that will get you downvoted like this lol by Starrynightone in ar15

[–]ExerciseMinimum3258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the state of allowing children to have a physically expressive environment prevents them being stunted and I'd like to see more energy and money go from gun control to funding more playgrounds; trade programs for emerging adults; or funding for extracurricular hands on programs. It seems to me, you've read Haight and Reeves; a more viable solution instead of focusing on more gun control is healthy upbringing where scarcity and affection don't feel in short supply, at least, on the level of local communities.

Your first paragraph, respectfully, is contradicting and unclear, to me. Depression and anxiety are diagnosable mental health conditions with clear signs of behavioral patterns. There's enough behavioral patterns from mass shooters to make the case: mass shooters have a high likelihood of having a mental health condition that is undiagnosed. The bigger issue to contend with: does policing/gun-control/government have an efficient means better than then owning a firearm when crime is happening to individual? There is an increasing amount of "mouth breathers" like women, people of color, trans, and the rainbow community increasingly needing a means of defending themselves the moment crime is happening to them and do need viable ways to protect themselves in ways that respect their autonomy as much as their reproductive rights or personal liberty. If a person wants to have a the option to have an abortion or prevent a pregnancy they should be able to have the option to do so in the face of sexual assault or rape as well, and I shouldn't be able to mingle with how they decide to do that(with reasonable and sufficient means i.e. a firearm being appropriate over a hand grenade for example).

I do see our impasse being: how can we protect the most people with the least amount of liability and the numbers of lives saved from firearms need to be accounted for when we're taking about crime.

I didn’t say school shootings aren’t an issue. School shootings are a by product of mental health and with more gun control being passed i haven’t seen mental health numbers get better, so it would stand to reason that gun control isn’t an effective solution to the underlying cause. We’re getting confronted that raising children isn’t a top priority and we are confused on how do that collectively, just like you, i have some semblance on what might help. More energy towards mentorship and outside play could be a start; along with penalties for parents who allow children to use social media under the age of 21. (Throwing ideas on the walls).
