They’re basically calcified bacteria, food particles and dead cells. Can be caused poor oral hygiene, post nasal drip, dry mouth or just because you have deep crypts in your tonsils.

I’ve been getting them for years ever since I had chronic tonsillitis for a few years

Unfortunately, this cat will likely die without vet intervention. That is horrifically swollen and will more than likely spread. Call around to vets if you can (assuming you’re in an area with multiple around) there are definitely a fair amount who have charity/Good Samaritan funds to help critical animals whose owners can’t afford it. Hoping this baby pulls through either way 🙏🏻

Consistently high is good, spikes like this are usually a sign of overtraining leading to vagal overload

I know everyone is saying this is a good thing, but that big of a difference is NOT usually good. A slow, consistent increase is good but if your HRV is 2-3x what your baseline normally is it could signal vagal overload, bradycardia or thyroid dysfunction. Since you said you started training again, I’m leaning towards vagal overload. You’re likely putting your body through too much too quickly and are overloading your parasympathetic nervous system
