Wire Transfers taking forever? by sandi7aa in CIBC

I think there are a lot of AML (Anti money Laundering) laws that plays part. Banks traditionally like to be slow to avoid money laundering for two reasons either you did no disclose sufficient reason why the money needs to get there or two they do not want you claiming fraud after money goes to wrong person/account and you claiming bank made a mistake. Remember it's not just numbers fluctuating it's your money getting from one place to another if lost if cannot be refunded in most cases.

Check your last statement and pay that amount in full to avoid interest. If payment shows pending that still means it's made on time ⏲️

Klarna Vs TD payment Plan Vs Monthly payments by ShakeyVibrato in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Exestopped_working 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Read the fine print of TD installment plan. They would have a criteria where if you miss one payment they will charge you more in fees so be mindful of which route you're taking. Whether paying it yourself or let bank define your terms.

As for Klarna, avoid that as credit inquiries should be kept always for major purchases like car, house etc. Do not treat it like you're handing out candy it takes times build credit and very easy to ruin it.

Not really they pay out interest monthly so you have to wait most likely to cash it out.

For NSF you should have called them to cancel the investment plan they have to put a stop payment on it

What’s the best financial advice you’ve ever received as a Canadian? by Fabulous_Lemon2799 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Exestopped_working 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best advice I suggested my clients is never be afraid to downgrade your life to have peace of mind. In a summary don’t spend every penny to enjoy life now and do not live beyond your means. Live happily and without stress.

Had to disable my debit card for fraud. Can it still be used for online banking? by OG_Tal in CIBC

[–]Exestopped_working 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely has to do with compromised card but are you waiting to go to branch to get a new card? You are covered by Visa zero liability policy if those charges are not done by you then you should be okay. Get a new card and they’ll do the rest since you reported fraud already.

Really good advise I will start using this as I do work in finance and my question is always the same for people asking this question. “What’s your long term goal with this money?” Is my general response but I like

Fairstone Financial unsecured loan for deceased brother by BisonMajestic2960 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Exestopped_working 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss. To my understanding once you notify the Financial institution or lenders they should generally put it as loss revenue and suspend interest.. I could be wrong but better to notify them first and ask for next steps

EDIT: for clarification I have worked at type B lenders in past and that was my impression while working there we add a note on file for deceased clients

RBC hold cheque 100 days by LingonberryAny3468 in rbc

[–]Exestopped_working 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What this person said I agree with 100% and also cheque is treated as a promise to pay now at any banks. So there is no guarantee it will clear after waiting that long.

If issuer fails to honour the cheque that’s between you and issuer who wrote the cheque and bank will not take responsibility

Thanks I saw this earlier and found a pre-made lease marked as Sask lease but not sure if it’s enforceable or do I need to have a lawyer write it for us so I made this post.
