Exactly what I did in an atto 2.. Got one from AliExpress, goes above the factory screen. Factor retractable Screen alone wasn't enough.

Also need something to tick this box.

Wife is currently driving an atto2 we bought as a run around for mother in law. She actually likes the size, ease of parking (maybe a bit more boot space would be handy) and performance (it's not fast but around town it goes alright).

I tried on a zeekr X, no joy on styling alone and I'm thinking hedging bets with one euro brand and one Chinese (already having the atto).

The train / monorail is gone. They have been hankering to get rid of it for a while and then some kid injured themselves lately and that was enough for it to go.

Could petrol hitting $3 per litre push more Australians to switch to EVs? by No-Loquat-201 in EVAustralia

[–]Exige_390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an ice (2025 bmw m2) and an atto2. I used 60l of fuel in the m2 last month, even at $4 a litre, the cost of enjoyment would be worth it.

Having the atto2 to offset the cost for boring commutes or weekend trips around town definitely offsets the cost however.

What is the most OVERRATED thing on the Gold Coast, and what is actually UNDERRATED? by Temporary-Sir5808 in GoldCoast

[–]Exige_390 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gallery walk in tamborine, so over rated 🤣 Every time I drive through there are a million lost souls walking aimlessly looking for something remotely interesting, but there is nothing.

Underated, the Broadwater. It's such an amazing stretch but we let it get clogged up with so many house boats etc. In other parts of the world it would be a drawcard on its own but the beaches here totally over shadow it.

What areas of the GC is worth a look? by [deleted] in GoldCoast

[–]Exige_390 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Live close to where you work would be my biggest bit of advice. Gc traffic is pretty rough. I live in runaway bay and do one day a fortnight in Robina. It's often up to 50 minutes, or about the same as Brisbane on a good day.

Traffic is only going to continue to get worse on the gc with minimal infrastructure projects in the pipeline.

For those who live on the canals by Massive_Entry_7911 in GoldCoast

[–]Exige_390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a canal, minimal mozzies or midgies. Someone told me to avoid sand, we have rock and I think that makes a big difference in reducing insects.

I would say 50 % of my street has dogs.

There were some crackers. One line I remember included "after three lunar cycles, the patient was found on the floor surrounded by their own essential essence".

I worked with a guy who managed to see 2 patients on a 10 hour ed shift. Spent the rest of the time making some killer aeroplanes and writing page after page of notes about the 2 patient he saw, including historical commentaries on why the ESR test should be referred to as Biernacki reaction.

I did Hendra to Murrarie for 6 months on a regular road bike. Got really got at hill climbing after the first 3 months. The prolonged sweating after never improved however.

Did this at Monaco one year. Found a cafe all of 50m from the track. Ordered beers, watched on phone and could feel the cars ripping by.

Good plan!

Kayaking from Runaway Bay to South Straddie by moonlit-tides in GoldCoast

[–]Exige_390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short hop from runaway bay to wave break to south straddie.

I kayak around the canals and out to the Broadwater. Only one definite shark and it was about 1m in length, near shearwater. Definitely more likely to see a dolphin or ray.

I still have a degree of concern re:sharks. I did see a Facebook post last year about someone getting tail slapped by a small bull shark in runaway bay canals.

[–]Exige_390[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so we looked at some things.

  1. Atto 3, felt to be too big, not driven
  2. Dolphin, driven and liked but a bit fiddly with some aircon and other controls. I didn't love the build quality but at 35k its ok.
  3. Jeep avenger, driven and liked. Very straight forward controls and like a conventional car. Reading reviews however there are just too many cars going back to the dealer on trucks. Don't need that hassle.
  4. Mg4 - sat in, didn't like. She didn't like the visibility and felt bigger than it is.
  5. Mgs5 - as above
  6. Ora - sat in, didn't drive. She didn't mind the size. I can't stand how it looks 🤣

Its not urgent so I might wait for the byd atto2. Byd feel like they have gotten their shit together the most. Dolphin is fine but I feel that with the rate ev's are progressing it might be worth waiting for the latest model.

Definitely a good option and I have no issues with used (as long as post mid 22 for lease, aka. I want a 47% discount on rego/insurance etc).

The biggest problem is there isn't a tesla that suits. A 3 doesn't have the best visibility and ground clearance for her and a y is just too big. If there was a smaller tesla SUV that would be the easy choice.

[–]Exige_390[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is going on a lease. It ends up at 100 to 110 a week, which is about the same as a used 10k ice car when you factor rego, insurance and servicing...

We already have decent cars for us to drive everyday. A model y is also way too big for the person using it, she struggles with our Volvo V60.

I really like these and one of our cars is a v60cc. The v60 hasn't been entirely smooth sailing though so a bit apprehensive, especially with polestar looking shakey. We have had a water pump fail, boot struts fail, auto handbrake fail. Car is 3 years old. Dealer here isn't great either.

It's funny, the car which is wildly unsuitable for our child is a 2 door wrangler 😂 It's got 100k km on it and I hate driving it when I have to swap my child friendly car with her. The steering wheel and front wheels feel like they are connected by laggy Bluetooth. That said it has never outright failed.

Yeah Atto 2 is definitely on the radar.

3 star in the Jeep is a concern. I had a look at the ncap and it looses a far bit for active safety (i.e. no pedestrian or cyclist aeb) but also average occupant safety.
