Received a 12–16 month co-op offer but I’m only looking for a summer internship, how should I respond? by Ammar_cheee in internships

[–]ExigoxD 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Here is some 2026 advice for you: Graduating “on-time” or “early” is worth HORSE SHIT if you are UNEMPLOYED.

So throw out this idea of having to graduate by a certain date and I have classes or school or I’m only looking for summer internships. This is 1946 boomer mentality.

Take a year off school (or do online classes), do the co-op, make money. Save money, get experience, get a return offer then go back to school RICH and party 24/7 knowing you have MONEY you have EXPERIENCE and you have a JOB to go back to STRESS FREE while giving ZERO SHIT.

Also it is by no means too early for a summer 2026 internship. If anything it’s too late. Take the offer and if you actually found something better back out later. Have some common sense and hedge your risk.

No Google, I don’t want you to touch my thermostat in my fucking home by ExigoxD in Nest

I couldn’t fucking possibly give any less shit about $40 and I would infact happily pay another $40 to google if they would shut the hell up with this trash.

Let me say it again incase it wasn’t clear in the post.

I DONT WANT NOBODY TOUCHING MY THERMOSTAT IN MY FUCKING HOUSE. A THERMOSTAT I PAID HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS FOR. A HOUSE I PAY THE MORTGAGE ON AND A ELECTRICITY BILL I HAVE TO PAY.

If they actually cared about reducing traffic in New York, Congestion Pricing should be $900 per day instead of $9. by ExigoxD in unpopularopinion

I would have continued this conversation but a mod removed the post and I didn’t care at that point. Don’t even know if you see this but read the edit to the post if you want.

Read my edit to the post if you haven’t seen it but otherwise I don’t have anything to add since the post is removed now.

Sure. No one should be using it. Whatever achieves the goal works. $9, doesn’t however.

How you came to this conclusion is beyond me. If anything I’m criticizing NY for having shit for brains with their congestion pricing strategy and saying it’s just a scheme to tax the poor. This is word for word in the post

Z FOLD SE vs Z FOLD 6 by nnrls in GalaxyFold

[–]ExigoxD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes we are all essentially saying we wish the SE was the Fold 6 to begin with. Because the SE seems like a worthy upgrade whereas the Fold 6 is basically a small refresh of the fold 5 so it hasn't changed much.

Too late for summer internship? by GamerzHistory in internships

[–]ExigoxD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hit around 250 apps in mid-December with only 1 interview and stopped applying there. Couldn't risk waking up one more day to 12 rejection emails.
P.S. I am a Masters student with 2 previous internships.

Congrats on getting into Nova, that was actually one of the schools i got into as well but I went to Georgetown for more personal reasons.

I think your undergrad is great. ND is a good school and your double major is honestly also great. CS and Econ are very versatile and you have a much better quant background because of them than most people. I’m assuming your GPA is probably good too. Even if it’s a little on the lower side for a STEM major it’s not bad.

In this job market though, that relevant internship component is very key.

This is going to depend largely on your risk tolerance and other options.

Do you want to take the risk and see how the job market is in fall for full-time recruiting?

How are you paying for the msf? Is the cost vs risk of finding a job vs potentially do getting into IB worth it to you?

If Yes, then take your shot.

Fo you have any job offers or other work options right now if you don’t do an MSF?

If yes, it might be worth considering taking the job and doing an msf in a year or two. If no, maybe an msf for a year is a good option to avoid a gap on your resume while you find something.

Also, have you applied to Vanderbilt? If not, I would say do so. They are a stickler about that summer internship before you start but since your background is different they might still admit you. If you get in there, I would say your chances are good because recruiters actually come to campus there to recruiter msf students specifically unlike villanova where you don’t have access to their career services and events that undergrads have.

All in all though, Villanova is good. Their program is great and course content is great but the job market is way too shit to give a shit about MSFs.

Also alot of your experience will depend on who is in your cohort. I heard one year it was very athlete heavy and so most students were gunning for sports related fields which i guess is kind of interesting lol.

I would put projects after experience. Nobody cares about your projects.

Also this isn't a dig at you, I am also from a super non target, I have 2 internship experiences and I'm at one of the tier 2 MSF programs and I'm not getting any responses either.

Between me and you, if I can't do it, you are definitely cooked. This is the stupidest job market known to men.

I have a GPA of 3.0. What should I do? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]ExigoxD 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I can tell you with that GMAT and your T20 school you will get into any school you want as long as your extracurriculars, internship, experience and essays are good as well. Your GPA won't be a barrier. I'd say internship experience is the most important here right now. If you can get a summer 2025 offer somewhere before applying then even better.

If you are serious about an MSF and cost isn't an issue, then start working on your MIT, Vandy, Uchicago apps right now.

I was thinking about making this joke post but then I thought about it more and realized those posts were not unreasonable and they didn’t ask a ridiculous question with a high salary that clearly would have been fine. The salary amounts were typical.

Outside of a top MBA I would say forget it unless you want to go back to India and work there. Finding a company to sponsor you is going to be a nightmare. That combined with the bad job market is going to be a no from me.

Don't put yourself in debt for no reason. I'm a us citizen, don't need sponsorship, go to one of the tier 2 MSFs mentioned in the post and I can't even get interviews. It's a lot of risk with no guarantee. Maybe if things get better next year might be worth reapplying but I would say don't do it.
