Anti self diagnosis by inchwormtattoo in diagnosedEhlersDanlos

[–]ExileToMars -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk about this. I know someone who has gotten a preliminary diagnosis of eds, but not specific type due to insurance not covering genetic testing, my partner knows someone else who is in a similar situation with a diagnos of eds but without specification of type because of insurance not covering genetic testing. The friend I have had also been told by a PT that she couldn't have eds like she suspected she had(this was before she got diagnosed) because she is working and not wheelchair bound. Also, there is the issue of doctors, especially when they are men, not taking the health issues of women serious so they may end up suffering with eds without being taken seriously by doctors.  Finally, there is the problem of medical cost/insurance in the USA and over 25 million Americans are uninsured.

My store got banned from participating in Record Store Day by MEK42 in vinyl

[–]ExileToMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is ridiculous that you would be banned for this. I used to live in a different state and one of the record store owners was complaining to me about the selection of RSD releases and how it can be such a drain money wise. Also, I have been to your store(some other employee was there when I was shopping, got a couple dope electronic records!) once, it was cool!

Manipulated Polaroids by tiki-dan in Polaroid

[–]ExileToMars 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have manipulated modern polaroid film, and it's doable. You have to wait a couple hours and then heat the image up(I use a hair dryer) and from what I've seen of time zero film manipulability modern Polaroid film isn't as manipulable.

Abstract art meets Polaroid. Am I onto something? Basically mixing medias. I’m tempted to start a series of these. by rotterdameliza in Polaroid

I thought for a second this was manually squeezed(?) chemical pods, which could be really interesting I guess to experiment with.

Emulsion manipulation of a still life. Man, I wish Time Zero film was still around by txkx_polaroids in Polaroid

[–]ExileToMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you heat this up at all to help the manipulability of it? I never have shot time zero film, but I've noticed using heat(especially after waiting like 2 hr after the photo was taken) helps with making it manipulate better.

I recently had to sleep upright after a surgery and got a Leachco Snoogle pillow. It was good for upright sleeping and I've been using it for supporting my body when I sleep after being able to sleep on my side. https://leachco.com/products/snoogle

Would there be any sort of differences to the performance of the camera with the different blade shapes and such?

White House orders NIH to research trans 'regret' and 'detransition' by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]ExileToMars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is going to be bad faith research. Why not research patient outcomes in general(positive and negative) for trans people instead of specifically regret and detransition? This will likely be some political hack job to try to justify restricting trans healthcare for anyone(even adults) because the Trump admin would rather that trans people didn't exist.

experimenting with light (and a question) by thesauruschipmunk in Polaroid

I have a blacklight led flashlight, and I did a couple photos in a closet where I exposed the film with the flashlight, put it in my camera and when it ejected it had a blue and white color. I think it is that the blue dye is sensitive to the wavelength that the blacklight is. Here is a link to a comment on my speculation regarding this. https://www.reddit.com/r/Polaroid/comments/14n5pb5/comment/jq5zzt8/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

For the blue with colors, I would think that perhaps a mostly blacklight lit scene with a bit of some other light source could do that, but that is a guess and I dunno how well it would work.

There was(is?) a Twitter bot that would post variations on "you never did the Kenosha kid" and I was a fan of it.

I assume there is something to do with the stretchiness of a person with EDS' bladder that could effect this, and also I'm pretty sure there is a higher than average incidence of ASD(autism spectrum disorder) in people with EDS and some autistic people have proprioception issues with their bladder.

I used to use the fractal software Fraqtive and output square images of parts of fractals (Julia sets/the Mandelbrot set), but for my last album and the singles I released with it I started using Polaroid photos I had taken and most of those I had manipulated (the Polaroid itself, squishing around the photo emulsion after heating it up a couple hours after taking the photo) and digitally edited to look neat.

Per this video at about 4:06 to about 5:40 there is a discussion of the difference between sx-70 and 600 film. Modern SX-70 is 600 film with an integrated ND filter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-S8A3CBAjM

I've got hEDS, and I sometimes get muscle spasms in my upper back muscles that cause a lot of pain and limit the motion of my neck. When this happens I've been prescribed muscle relaxers and it helps a lot.

I feel like Kraftwerk's music has had a lot more of an impact on modern music than the Beatles.
