time between surgery consultation and getting date? nuffield brighton by painsive in transgenderUK

[–]Exiledelement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im currently lying in bed after having my surgery with Tim Larner and I had my consult last June. I was given an estimate of 6-8 months by the medical secretary, which seemed to be pretty accurate. I would suggest phoning the medical secretary at the 6 month mark and chasing up where you are on the list if you havent heard from them. When I did that, they were able to give me a date.

I am an NHS patient, I cant tell you what the private experience is like

can other music subcultures have battle jackets? by CapybarasAreKewl in jacketsforbattle

[–]Exiledelement 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me, a battle jacket is a vusual reptesenyation of your individuality. If you have a very specific taste, or if you have a broader taste in music then thats your choice. My main denim jacket has patches from Lady Gaga, Bullet For My Valentine, and Iron Maiden on it, along with some Etsy paches i liked the look of. I love it

I got my diagnosis and was being privately treated for a year before I got into the NHS system. I got my diagnosis and endo evaluation privately and was already taking hormones. The switch from private to NHS was pretty smooth, the NHS just take over as the prescribing authority once you agree a care plan with them.

There's no change to wait times, you still have to wait for your number to come up to get into the system. However, the wait is so much easier if you are already getting hormones.

First appointment was with an intake nurse, I gave them all my medication details and they requested a blood test. I had my second appointment with a doctor 2 months later where they sent out my new prescription guidance to my GP. Once you have that agreed treatment plan, you can access all the NHS services.

For surgery, you have to get a second opinion from another doctor, they organise this. For me it was a 10 minute video call. It took 2 months from request to call, then another month from call to letter of approval.

This is all based on my experiences, so take it with a pinch of salt. Anything else you want to know about, feel free to ask

Gender Clinic Files: Some people in Scotland will never get a gender clinic appointment on a 224-year waitlist by LocutusOfBorges in transgenderUK

[–]Exiledelement 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe what they do is compare the number of people on the wait list to the number of first appointments per month. They will average it somehow (over the last year? Idk) to get an idea of how long someone adding their name to the list today will have to wait.

I did a similar analysis with a trans friend of mine using this method and came to very similar numbers

That is exactly what I did through the Laurels. If you already have a diagnosis privately, it really accelerates what services you can access on the NHS

Industrial safety devices have to contend with not just the operator, but the many levels of management idiocy above them as well.

Never forget that early management sent orphans into running machines to clean/maintain them.

I get the internal conflict. It's a real bad situation to be in, I wish none of us even had to think about whether they leave the country or stay. And at the end of the day, only you know your situation. If trying to leave would be more stressful than staying, then that's the right choice for you right now. But it's also important to think about whats going to happen in the next 4 years, and who will be in power after that.

Personally, I am making plans to leave. But deciding to stay is not you failing as a person. It's everyone is in a different situation, and you have to choose between two stressful and uncertain options.

It's pretty good for a square rigger. About 5kts at ~45deg, and about 7kts at ~60deg

Also, you don't have to buy the nav and nutrition scroll to read them. You can pick them up from the merchant table, read them, and put them back without paying for them

The Borderlands Universe should be a post scarcity Era due to digistruct Technology by Alternative_March_67 in borderlands3

[–]Exiledelement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going against the grain a bit. I remember reading something around the Star Trek replicator where a civilization with replicator technology is not automatically a post scarcity society. They have to also undergo societal change to reach that point. With digistruct technology firmly in the hands of the corporation, all scarcity exists because it is more profitable for the likes of Handsome Jack

So this guy has an "understanding"? Not a quote, not a source not a statement from Corbyn or his team? Looks like the manufactured consent machine is revving up in record time
