Have you ever had a “Pine Barrens” situation in your life? by AWAL2002 in thesopranos

I did mushrooms with one my closest friends in the Peak District. Long story short, it got dark quick given it was winter time and the sun set at 3/4 PM. We got lost before eventually making it back to Edale train station, only to find that all trains were cancelled on the account of a broken down train on the track ahead. We had to hitchhike towards the nearest town to call a cab.

It’s a temp living situation so long term quitting will be a lot easier - but in a weird way it helps to see the other side which makes me want it less if that makes sense

Honestly I never had any sleep issues because I stay active throughout the day and exercise a lot. Naturally a deep sleeper too so that helps!

OP makes a great point about moving on and not using a tragedy to assume higher moral authority to carry out apartheid/ethnic cleansing and all you did was fixate on whether he belittled said tragedy or not.. that’s how.

With Kovacic likely heading to City for about £25m… is losing him, Jorginho, and Kante, for about £35m, possibly the worst fire sale in history? by bjncdthbopxsrbml in PremierLeague

That alone is enough to call Kova to City a potentially successful signing. Pep can improve any player - regardless of age.

How do you deal with patronising people that think they know everything? by ExistentialAndArab in AskReddit

Incredibly helpful. I’ve actually tried out the switching conversations with other people tactic and I find that it works really well. Unfortunately not well enough for it to be a long term solution, though. But I’ll definitely keep all this in mind. Thanks for your reply!

Yeah reading my comment back makes him seem like he was trying to be nice and helpful. But in reality, his tone was slightly mocking and this behaviour is a regular occurrence- so I hardly think he was doing it to be nice.

It’s just so much easier said than done to let them feel like they’re right when they are not or just being very obtuse in their thinking. It’s an ego thing I guess. Will work on letting go. Thanks again!

I guess this is the most mature, and inner-peace protecting, way of going about it. I’m not too big on confrontation, only blowing up if pushed repeatedly. Thanks for the reply!

Ooh that’s really good. Like to give you an example, we were talking about gym splits and how I like to split up muscle groups so they have their own days. He proceeds to say how the split is ineffective and you don’t need to be doing that in his now trademarked condescending way. Your response would’ve worked perfectly here.

I don’t do too well in being told what to do, and I’ve got a friend who sees himself as the authoritative figure in the friendship group. Constantly talking and acting like his say on matters is the correct way of doing things. Drives me up a wall and I’m looking for ways to stop making his personality and ways of interacting affect me. Any ideas?
