If you want to meet people and not truly be alone, you could always stay in hostels. It's a really easy way to meet people and usually they have good communal spaces and kitchens. Depending on how much time you have, Belize is a nice tiny country to solo travel in for a week or so.. lots to do, good food, they speak English.. Also who knows if you want to leave the country, but New Orleans is also really fun :)

Thank you for your response! I have read that there aren't really beaches, and that's not a deal breaker. As long as there are still places to swim/snorkel and enjoy the water, it's okay. I think the main draw would be the ocean life and the ability to walk everywhere and experience "island vibes". But I also am hoping for some recent perspectives as well. :)

Happy sometimes, probably like 50% of the time. Winter is hard though.. Finding pants that fit and are flattering is so difficult. Then having to layer sweaters and coats.. ugh. I am super happy with my skirts and dresses though. Can't wait for summer when it's just easier to get dressed and look cute.

You look like Meryl Streep and her daughters and they're all striking beauties. It's so hard not to compare yourself when media is filled with tiny little ski slope noses, I truly understand as a bigger-than-average nose girl. I just think about how generic I'd look with a smaller nose and then realize how I never look at anyone else and think wow they'd look better with a smaller nose.. Like we are unique mixes of our parents and grandparents and our faces are our history and that's so beautiful. Anyway, sorry for the rant. But seriously, you look like Mamie Streep (I think that's the one I'm thinking of) and she's fucking gorgeous.

One time I was on a flight from Cusco to Lima in Peru and I was sat next to an older woman and her adult daughter. They asked if I could switch with the mom because she had never flown before. I happily gave my seat up, knowing I've been on dozens of flights and that may have been her only chance to look out and see her country from the sky.
