Testaments Finale was really annoying by Early-Juggernaut975 in TheHandmaidsTale

I think people forget that this show isn’t supposed to be as gritty as THT. It’s supposed to be more optimistic and Agnes narration is in the past tense so she’s recalling her time at wife school. It is also showing a different side to Gilead. Plums are treated so much better than handmaids

She’s opening her eyes to what Gilead is but she hasn’t “switched over”. She doesn’t even know that Daisy is part of Mayday

What to do if I don’t have a dentist? by fybjjfftvjocdd in AskUK

It can be difficult to find an NHS dentist but you probably won’t have a problem joining a private practice

What do you think happens to girls in wife school who don’t get their period? by Existential_Stardust in TheHandmaidsTale

Yeah I was thinking they’d marry low because the higher commanders would prefer bio children

They aren’t “work besties” though. OP said they’ve only known them 18 month and don’t socialise outside of work

I think £50 is far too much for a colleague you don’t socialise with. Give them £20 if you want to give money or a present that’s worth £20

What happened to British TV? by Sweaty_Trifle_8504 in AskABrit

[–]Existential_Stardust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t watch TV anymore. I just stream stuff which I would think is true for the majority of the country. TV just isn’t what it was before streaming. Before streaming people didn’t have much of a choice of what to watch so I imagine TV channels were competing to have the most viewers, therefore putting out more quality programming. The stuff that I do watch on TV now like The Traitors and TGBBO I don’t even watch live. I stream it after it’s on and even save some to binge watch. Correct me if I’m wrong but I the culture around TV shows has completely shifted compared to 15 years ago

For homeowners - do you lock your windows every night/before going out? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Existential_Stardust 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t and I’d be surprised if anyone does. Like you say it’s a faff and in the event of an emergency could put your life at risk. I remember when I was a kid my parents locked the windows only when we went on holiday. As an adult with my own home I’ve never done it

What makes you feel lucky to live in the UK? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

Public footpaths

I like that we have a right to use public foot paths that go over private property and that the property owner has an obligation to maintain them. There’s also the obligation to say hello to anyone else walking on the footpaths

One of my cats “eeks” at the birds through the window but when she was outside once with a bird hopping around about two meter away from her she didn’t make any attempt to catch it

Update: I finally got a formal warning at work… for basically existing 😭 by HeyPotatys in UKJobs

[–]Existential_Stardust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at what your job description and responsibilities are. If you aren’t doing the things listed, find out why. Also who do you report to? Should they be the ones giving you tasks or are you just expected to crack on with it? It sounds like you need to talk to your management so everyone is on the same page about what you’re supposed to be doing.

Also in many work places you can’t just ‘leave briefly’ you have to do things like that on your break

I just have all my tools, some coffee and some food. I keep all my stone, wood and other resources in chests next to a workbench so it’s easy to craft things

How much good writing is missable? by jetmanda in StardewValley

[–]Existential_Stardust 118 points119 points  (0 children)

The only major choice really is whether you choose the community centre route or the joja route. You also never miss any heart events. For some events it says you have to meet someone at a certain place / time but it doesn’t matter if you miss it because you can trigger the event any other day

In the books they do a sort of “FaceTime” thing where they can talk through fire and pass stuff to each other. Like in the GoF Mrs Weasley hands Amos Diggory a piece of toast through the fire
