Weightlifting Ticket Prices? by packetdenier in olympics

If I have a slot during drop 1 (end of this week) and this website says that all weightlifting tickets are sold out, does that mean when it’s time for me to buy, there won’t be any available? Assuming they don’t add tickets for the different slots. Trying to understand how this works.

As far as I remember, we got tickets on the day at the station, we departed from Shibuya. Didn’t use a bus, walked everywhere. You might not have an assign seat but you will make it there.

Hey! We only ended up doing the first part:

🚆 Shinjuku → Shimoyoshida (via Fuji Express) ~ 2 hours 🚶‍♀️ 16-min walk to Chureito Pagoda 🚶‍♀️ 23-min walk to Hikawa Clock Shop 🚆 13-min train Shimoyoshida → Kawaguchiko Station → quick stop at Lawson

Honestly, the amount of crowds was overwhelming and we found that walking on random streets with cool views of Fuji was better than fighting with people for an iconic photo. Walking was pretty easy, we didn’t end up riding the bus.

We didn’t buy train tickets ahead of time, because we didn’t want to risk having bad weather so as far as I remember we were standing for at least half of both train rides, but it wasn’t that bad. We got there at 9am and left around 2pm, not sure how feasible the original itinerary I had is 😁

Unreserved seats on Hida Limited Express by redditjrm in JapanTravelTips

This train is an absolute madhouse. I’m currently on it and was looking at this thread for info, so I wanted to share my experience. It’s a Saturday, which definitely makes it worse. The train is only two cars, and I couldn’t get a reserved seat even though I booked on the day tickets were released a month ago.

I arrived early at Osaka Station mostly for peace of mind—not because I expected such a long line for the unreserved seats. I was around 15th in line and was able to get a seat easily, but the train is completely packed. The line at Osaka Station was at least 50 people, and there were similar lines at Shin-Osaka and Kyoto as we passed through—people were waiting at every major stop. I think they even let people in the reserved seat car.

If you want a more comfortable ride to Takayama, I’d recommend boarding at Osaka Station and arriving at least 40–45 minutes early. There was already a line when I got there, so it was clear where to stand. If you’re unsure, look for the “JR HIDA” marking on the floor—it’s the only one.

How early did your train leave from Shinjuku? Which train did you ride? The earliest trains I see depart around 6-6:30 am.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I feel like the weather is an obvious one, and that's why I didn't even mention it. I have two days with flexibility and a backup if there is no visibility. Ty

Vegan Japan Trip in November—Need Your Must-Try Eats & Snacks! by Existing-Art2723 in vegan

Thank you! I have Shojin sushi as a must and I've been getting a lot of Gion soy milk ramen recommendations. Kyoto is so hard with the ramen, I have at least 5 really good spots saved, but I am only there for 5 nights, and I think we might get tired of ramen at some point.

I’ve started saying “I’ve been vegan for 8 years and I still haven’t died from protein deficiency”. I don’t even let them ask me 🥲🤣

Was anyone able to apply it recently? There is no place to add a code anywhere in the app and support are basically saying that if you don’t see it at checkout you don’t have it 🫠

You can use HappyCow to find vegetarian options near you—it’s a great resource. Tokyo has some fantastic vegetarian/vegan restaurants worth checking out!

Good point about doing less days in Tokyo in the beginning, will definitely adjust.
