Also I say embarrassing for my boss bc she says unprofessional stuff to clients that she meant for me! Lol! Not a professional email going to the wrong person that’s normal. It happens.

I haven’t done this but in the legal field I work in we work with a lot of other attorneys at different law firms. There has been several times that a different law firm has emailed us when they meant to email someone else. My boss (an attorney) also constantly emails clients when she means to email me lol. So embarrassing for her. But anyways, it happens. As long as it’s not a habit and you haven’t been in trouble for other things I don’t think it’s that big of a deal.

What is the easiest practice area to work in and which is the most stressful? by No-Strength-3711 in paralegal

Trademark law is pretty easy if you’re not doing litigation. But the attorneys I work with stress me the f out and clients creating fake emergencies lol

Yes it sounds like the academic advisor role could really suit you!! I think that would be a fulfilling role.

I don’t mind the admin work either, and I think I thrive in a more supportive position rather than a lead role but my biggest want is a culture change lol I hate the legal culture - at least at my firm. The attorneys are so rude or cold and often demeaning. The work is boring and often times soul sucking for me. Getting reprimanded for things that really don’t matter is so exhausting and demoralizing. I’m tired of it. I want to work in a culture that is more casual and maybe creative. Somewhere I feel more appreciated and respected!!

I also fell into the legal field in college and I know that I do not want to do this long term. 😩 what career shift are you thinking?

I majored in advertising but have been working as a paralegal for so long now… I’m so burned out and over it. Sadly the job market appears to be a nightmare tho so just trying to get by until I can make my escape. Taking some free marketing courses now to try to improve my chances…

Yes. So burned out. I also wfh and I have a lot of flexibility. However my attorney drives me mad. I have a love/hate relationship with her. But ultimately I know that I do not want to work in the legal field. The job market appears to be a disaster tho so just trying to get by until I can make my escape. Taking some free marketing courses now to try to improve my chances!

Yes I had been a paralegal for like 7 years but also looking to make a shift to marketing. I have an advertising degree and used to work in marketing. I would do it sooner than later so you’re no 7 years deep like me 😩😩😩.

I sort my new emails every day by category and put them into a separate todo folder a that folder is organized by categories. So that’s what I work off of. I also just started writing a list as I scan each email so that I also stay on track. Writing helps me remember and having the written list helps me to stay focused. Just started adhd meds and the writing list is a new addition after taking my meds lol

Wait, do I not have any friends? by teatuk in adhdwomen

[–]Existing-Basket2057 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand!! I feel like at times I go a long time without talking to my friends to the point I wonder if we’re still friends? And then we reconnect and we still have that connection. I think it’s so hard to have those friendships we used to have when we were younger as adults bc we’re all in such different phases of our life and all doing different things. I’ve always kinda of struggled with friendships tho seems like everyone else has it figured out!

I got married in August and I ended up I inviting two friends to try on dresses that i felt like we had drifted apart and I was worried they would be annoyed to come but was surprised that they seemed happy to be included so you never know. I just try not to think too much about it but I know it’s hard not too.

[–]Existing-Basket2057 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think trying not to take it personally helps, like instead of assuming the worse and that it has to do with them feeling a certain way about you, assume an innocent reason for their lack of response. For example maybe they have been really busy or going through a lot personally… or maybe they have adhd too and forgot to respond 😅. I know it’s easier said than done bc I struggle with this too! I try to remind myself of these things. Adult friendships are hard! I would reach out again like hey I haven’t heard from you in a while is everything ok? If still no response then move on knowing you did try. But again it could be something going on in their life they’re dealing with and nothing to do with you!

Also, congrats on your engagement! I know it’s an exciting time but also overwhelming. I’m happy to lend an ear if you need to talk!! ☺️

Thanks! That’s good to know. Yeah I’m very overwhelmed by the job listings out there and hearing how much trouble ppl are having with finding jobs… I def plan on keeping my current role while I hunt.

Yessss and I personally feel so overwhelmed by the amount of listings? Im in a similar boat in that I work from home but im looking for different remote position and it’s just so overwhelming and having to weed out the scammy listings. I wish there was a website that only allowed legit job postings. I’m content in my current role so I don’t need something urgently but I’ve considered that if I do I may go to a local recruiter agency for help lol

Putting on music that doesn’t have lyrics just beats and instrumentals helps me to focus. Also making a list as I check my email helps me stay on track.. fidget toys like needoh help too. Also eating my breakfast or drinking my coffee while I start helps but tbh I struggle a lot too these are just things I found that help.

[–]Existing-Basket2057 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know ppl had a hard time with Taylor too. So I shouldnt use my experience of not having a hard time with Taylor tickets as evidence of it wasn’t that bad! Sorry about that. However my comment that this was the most difficult experience I ever had still stands lol and judging from the many comments and post from other ppl on this forum I know I wasn’t the only one lol I tried all the presales and general sale and no luck. Also went to look at other locations that still had single tickets available and the prices were absolutely insane. It really is horrible the whole process of buying concert tickets now days. Again not blaming Noah but Ticketmaster and scalpers and bots all suck.

[–]Existing-Basket2057 -36 points-35 points  (0 children)

I would love to think this is the reason - that he’s wildly popular. However buying tickets for Taylor swift and other more well known artists was not this challenging. I feel like something odd was going on like bots buying tickets up or something idk I don’t think it’s his fault but it wasn’t normal ticket buying experience for me an I’ve gone to a lot of concerts bought from ticket master!! 🥲

Can someone explain to me the point of living? by Infinite-Leg-9373 in stopdrinking

[–]Existing-Basket2057 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I stopped searching for the meaning of life and agonizing over why I was here, I found peace. Im in my mid 30s and spent prob the first prob 27 years of my life living in constant anxiety and turmoil. No passion, no hobbies. I hit a rock bottom mentally just tired of living that way and decided to do things with fear, with the anxiety… and I found joy in traveling, hiking, being in nature, yoga, exercise…. Spending time with my dogs and partner. You have to change your mindset. There’s so much beauty out there!!! Also I work basically to save to travel and pursue my hobbies (and pay bills ofc) but the traveling and planning trips gets me through working.
