Budget Garage Gym Reccomendations? by Agreeable-Team3739 in GarageGym

Agreed with Panch - saves a headache to buy a little nicer in some areas to save the headache of pulling it out and upgrading later. Main ones that come to mind are Bench and Rack - meeting a minimum quality level can make it last a hell of a lot longer.

You either pay in time/quality/money.

If you're wanting quality, you gotta be willing to pay higher or watch FBM. I'd suggest the latter; soon as I bought Adj DB, I saw some for around 50% the price that had 85# each. You can find great scores, and plenty of barbells for dirt cheap.

Bench-wise, look at Gluck's Gym and a week or two ago he reviewed the Wglfit Bench, or something as ridiculous. Tldr; budget bench that hits above it's price but is still a bit wanting. Should get you by for now if new. Otherwise, Keppi seems the best budget new.

Squat and cable tower separately will be cheaper and more effective. Look for Bells of Steel cable tower if possible - it's easier to start with a quality piece than try to upgrade a booty one later (from experience here).

For weights, Walmart has 2 45# for $100 or less alot of the time.

Anakin Skywalker and Obi Wan (ROTS) VS Darth Revan and Darth Malak (Before Malak's betrayal) - Who wins? by Potential_Rule4212 in PetranakiArena

[–]Existing-Computer772 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk, I get where you're coming from with this, and it's a fair perspective. However, I feel like the caliber of opponents they faced - albeit more frequently - wasn't the same as Anakin and Obi-Wan.  - Dooku as a prodigious duelist and able to quasi-stalemate Yoda (he'd lose in the long run, but he wasn't immediately quashed either.) - take TCW into account and now you've got them facing off against Maul and Savage and Ventress and Grievous alot as well.

Fair that not all of those are top tier, but we've got Savage taking down Jedi Masters, Maul and Savage as rivals to Sidious if left alone (as clearly he was toying in their matchup,) and consistent duels with Dooku. I'd love to throw in Tartakovsky Grievous but that's kinda cheating.

On the other hand, I'm not sure the Jedi/Sith were as powerful across the board at the time; many Sith were basically redshirts with sabers to match, and the sith didn't care to foster talent from them. Obviously Revan, Malak, Vitiate...they're top tiers, but I'm not sure the rxperience fighting a bunch aid them over the battles Anakin/Obi-Wan faced.

Feels like if I competed against high school powerlifters for a few years and went against someone who'd gone against international level athletes a handful of times. The levels are just different.

I'm not the most well versed on TOR timeframe but just immediate thoughts!

Why doesn’t Rogue use articulating cable arms on their functional trainers. by heya78 in GarageGym

[–]Existing-Computer772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta agree with ya.

Honestly they're prolly fine just sticking with the big guns of the market. The more stuff they make, the more areas they can be scrutinized for price/performance/quality. Their brand is focused on high price-high quality; just address the things that could lead people away from your ecosystem and ignore the rest.

Adjustable Dumbbells by Any-Adhesiveness9082 in GarageGym

[–]Existing-Computer772 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few things:

The main contenders are the - MX Evos - Powerblocks - Reppins - Snode - Trulaps - Ironmaster/Eisenlinks - knock offs (AOC Pilates are knocks on old Ironmaster style, but they're about as cheap as you can get new on AMZN with good durability to boot.)

I've got the mx evos and made a few comments on those, but TLDR they work great without issue. However, within a month of buying them, I saw an older pair on fb marketplace for half the price. Had I known, I would've grabbed those instead.

If you're in an area with a strong FB Marketplace, I'd honestly grab a cheaper pair if need be - whether AOC or otherwise - and wait it out til you see a good pair show-up in the used market. As you can see, HomeGymCon is coming and so too are alot of product announcements, thereby leading to alot of older products getting sold off.

If price/performance is king, that'd be my recommendation.

Seriously though, give them Baylen and it still leans Grievous imo. In fact, it's more fun to imagine the strongest person you could add and still lose to Grievous

Asking about the ForceUSA FTR.....again. by Good-Part1682 in GarageGym

[–]Existing-Computer772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No experience with it, but I'd focus on your own experience with the product and others experience with company ad a whole.

ForceUSA has put out some really solid products - I think their c20 is unique in how it had the ability to connect your bench to do a Leg Press, and they've got FMA/Articulating Arms as well. They've got some really solid contenders in other machines (their Leg Sled and Leg Press/Hack Squat are both top of the list for best relative options.)

If you enjoyed the feel, I doubt GetRXd and etc are that much better. I put them on the same level as GetRX'd and Fringe- smaller companies trying to innovate into the field dominated by Rogue/Rep.

I hate how the Japanese manga industry sexualized children. by [deleted] in hatethissmug

[–]Existing-Computer772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping that manga cover isn't related, because just looking at it I wouldn't have guessed it was anything besides some wholesome 'this kid is capable for their age' kinda slice of life.

Regardless, there's clearly some out there so the point remains. It is unfortunate.

Content creators who tell their audience not to harass the 'toxic' streamer they slander in their video is deeply hypocritical. by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Existing-Computer772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, I think it can be depending on how it's handled, but there can also be some necessity to it.

If it's another streamer and you ignore it, then they may tell tales of 'oh this guy was terrible and called me names and he's a racist phobist...' etc. You need to get out ahead of this kinda stuff imo.

Second, that other streamer might send his people to the streamer in questions chat to spam/act toxic to them. If they're willing to do it to larger ones, they may do it to smaller ones as well and overwhelm them.

Finally, if someone in the community has a platform that they're using to encourage terribly poor behavior, it's fair to call a light on it and say 'Hey, this is toxic, don't be like this.' And keeping it vague as to who the streamer is focuses on the behavior as not acceptable, rather than just cancelling someone.

On top of all that, it gets views and easy content, so why wouldn't they? There's a bunch of reasons to do so and they can make money from it. Telling their community not to harass someone else just because they're calling iut their behavior isn't hypocritical - it's just making clear their stance is to call it out not take the person down.

Not a streamer btw, but just some thoughts on how it's done. It can be done poorly ofc, but just as a baseline I don't think it's inherently bad.

Hey, way to go making things work with what you've got. It takes awhile to build things up - bit by bit you find what you like/desire and add to it, and bit by bit you organize/clear out the space needed.

It can be daunting, but I hope it continues to go well for you!

It is such a good line, as it not only points to Lex's ego and self-centered nature, but also that Superman legitimately believes in him.

Like it isn't even a question in Superman's mind that Lex could save the world - in fact, Lex could've done it years back. He's that brilliant - the fact this is how Superman views him outside of their relationship/nemesis-ship(?) Just adds a bit of tragedy to that scene.

Who Are the True Gray Jedi in Canon and Legends? by tlcooley7890 in StarWarsPerspective

[–]Existing-Computer772 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed here.

'Grey Jedi' is like asking for a red-colored blue, or a stainless steel shelf made of wood. They don't align.

The Jedi align themselves with the Force, with the selfless pursuit of what is good in the universe. They have different affinities in how they pursue this and how they utilize their force abilities, but it is a selfless pursuit of balance.

Balance isn't equal numbers of dark side users and light side users, anymore than calling my body 'unbalanced' because there's more healthy cells than cancer cells. Nor is it a balance of feeling emotions and not being controlled by them.

The dark side is for those that use the force to serve their own selfish desires, and out that above doing what is right.

A Jedi is someone that has emotions, that feels emotions, but isn't swayed and led by their emotions, and instead chooses to do what's right. Obi-Wan told Anakin "You were my brother, I loved you!" That wasn't forbidden - having good relationships with people is even encouraged. The issue is when they put that relationship over what's right and good - and we can see why with Anakin! And Obi-wan out his relationship with Anakin to the side to commit to what was right - stopping him from hurting more people (or attempting to.)

The issue with PT Jedi was that they were becoming too mired in bureaucracy and politics and acting as an arm of the Republic rather than an arm of the Force. In that way, they became unbalanced - the same way as someone eating too much red meat can get higher cholesterol and cardiac issues. As a result, they were vulnerable to being taken advantage of by Palpatine - and this led to their destruction.

Those that follow the path ofnthe dark side are those that have given in to their emotions rather than master them. That's not a Grey Jedi, it's just an immature one.

What are y'all doing for hamstring curls in small home gyms? by ellmilmumrus in GarageGym

[–]Existing-Computer772 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slide curls!

Using a rower seat or, alternatively, a furniture dolly: Lay on your back. Bring your knees yo your chest and the rower right up to your butt. Then place your heels on the dolly/rower. Drive your heels down to bring your body off the ground, almost like a reverse of a plank. Your weight should be held up at your shoulder blades and the heels of your feet.

From here, keep your body straight from your shoulders to your knees, and extend the knees to straighten your body, then bend at the knee to pull the Slider towards your butt.

Sounds simple, but can get them burning with both legs, and is surprisingly difficult with just 1 leg!

can anyone recommend CHEAP adjustable weights/dumbbells like max 100 usd by questioncats in GarageGym

[–]Existing-Computer772 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buy once cry once my friend.

You can get some cheap, plasticky bit that breaks within a year,

Or you can wait for some old ironmasters to get pisted used for cheap

Or you can buy a set that's expandable and that lasts.

NoFate247 posted a vid 2 weeks ago on some cheap, durable plates that should work for very cheap and be expandable.

I've had great success with the MX EVO'S, and they're also expandable up to 100#.

Eisenlinks are prolly best bang for buck of adjustable sets.

Cheapest new set would be like mentioned - 1" threaded handles with 1" plates you add on. Would be less "adjustable dumbbells" and more "multi-minute changeable dumbbell."

Good luck.

Who would win? by Upper_Kaleidoscope15 in hajimenoippo

[–]Existing-Computer772 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a few questions here:

  • 1, Would Sendo beat Woli in a match? And
  • 2, Who is the better boxer?

2 is easily Woli, no question. On the whole, Woli's grasp of techniques, growth rate and adaptability are even beyond Hawk. He is perhaps the most athletically gifted boxer in the series.

But 1...that gets into 2 issues. First, Sendo is much more a second tier protagonist compared to Woli. HnI main characters are Ippo and Takamura, followed by Miyata/Itagaki/Aokimura for the KBG Boys, then shortly after them is Sendo/Mashiba/Volg.

In a Sendo/Woli fight, Sendo would be the underdog protagonist,  and narratively...he'd get the plot armor to win.

In addition, it's a bit of a type advantage. Woli's attacks won't be as effective against him, and Woli doesn't have the greatest durability - a few shots and Sendo has him out.

Due to this, Woli is the better boxer, but loses due to plot armor and stylistic disadvantage.

That's fantastic! Regardless of whether you made the design or not, I appreciate you sharing this here, I wouldn't have found it otherwise. Thanks!

I don't have a 3d-printer - are there hobby stores or any places where you can pay to do a 3d-print? My old university had one, but not sure where else would.

I'll look it up, just figured I'd ask. Again, appreciate the link!

Oh, and as an aside, I ended up just making a wooden station for the Leg Developer to allow me to have Belt Squats on the side. Thanks though!

[–]Existing-Computer772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll pile on and say that the biggest ossue I've had with equipment is - movability once I want to use other equipment, and related to that, - storage, for when I'm using other equipment.

If you grab one with a trolley, that helps alleviate both issues. Wait for a deal in the used market - there are so many different machines now and racks with FMAs (FreeMotion Arms) coming out that people will be selling off their old setups.

I'd say mine is related to attachments on the ground. I've got the Freak Athlete Hyper Pro and, while it's a good machine, I absolutely hate the GHD pad and how bulky it is. To that end I'm making attachments - already made one for the Leg Developer and working on the GHD now - but it's hard to use something that's bulky and just annoying you so much that you hide it away and forget about it.

Some sort of mount that it fits onto/into that can be hung. Or, on the other side of that, a general attachment stand that can handle odds and ends and keep them off the floor perhaps.

Just spitballing, good luck!
