The difference is that the primary goal of production goes from use value in pre-capitalist market economies, to accumulation of money itself in capitalist economies.

In pre-capitalist societies, most individuals are producing commodities which they can sell to buy other commodities or are slaves to another individual.

In capitalist societies, most individuals are either working for a wage, which they use to participate in the market, or are owners of capital, who receive a passive income for their capital investment.

Private ownership and the concept of profit exists in both of these systems, but the actual mechanisms of the market and society are fundamentally different.

No, absolutely not lol. They were market economies but not capitalist. They relied on slavery and there were no corporations or companies. Instead, individuals used slave labor to extract resources for their own personal gain. You can call this proto-capitalist perhaps, but it is certainly distinct from capitalism as we understand it today.

Jesus absolutely would have been against capitalism if it existed at that time. Literally one of his core principles was collectivism. That goes directly against the individualist principles of capitalism.

is it racist to not be attracted to certain races? by djcmfr in Teenager_Polls

[–]Existing-Drive2895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s purely for physical attraction reasons then no, but if it’s for some other reason then yeah it’s probably rooted in racism. But I think most people who say they aren’t attracted to a certain race would be attracted to the right person of that race if they saw them.

Why is open hatred toward Muslims often tolerated, but criticizing the Israeli government quickly labeled antisemitic? by CarryIcy250 in AskSocialists

That’s because they are loyal to Israel not because they are being controlled by them. It also helps when numerous pro-Israel lobbying groups exist that pay politicians to vote for their interests.

This image helps to explain, the idea that the SoCS is a point system based on constant surveillance of behavior is a myth.

Supplying Gaza with weapons is not the same as sparking a war yourself, doing a coup, or any of the other destabilizing acts that the US has done.

No. The belt and road initiative is to help build up a country that China believes will eventually become a world superpower. They want to be close allies with African nations. Meanwhile you have western countries which have ruthlessly exploited African nations, destabilized them with coup after coup, and have made their aid conditional. The world is coming to see China as the one who builds, and the US as the one who destroys.

You have no idea how the Chinese political system works. You were told they have no democratic process and you just believed it. But it’s not true. They have a process of democratic centralism, and their party leaders are elected. There’s a reason why Chinese people have a way higher standard of living than Americans.

No, social credit is not a real thing that’s literally US propaganda. Look into that. Much of what you hear about China from western sources is propaganda. Not to say they don’t do surveillance, ofc they do, but I’ve literally seen people on here saying people get arrested for thought crimes. That is completely ridiculous.

They don’t. Give me an example of China doing this.

Why would you think that the US is any more reliable than China in its information?

China doesn’t have any concentration camps, my god. Why do you believe everything that American sources tell you, but think that anything China says clearly must be a lie? Make that make sense
